Federal Great - NYS Less So

This is the first time I completed the S-Corp filing -- I had used a CPA in the past. The interview for the federal was straight forward and much shorter than I had imagined. I probably completed it in under 20 minutes (time spent getting coffee included). The NYS took much longer. (In using TurboTax for personal returns, the state was almost an after-thought as everything was transferred and just had to be reviewed.) Transfer went well, but I had several errors which were not well highlighted. I had to enter strange things like "Date shares last held" for shares I still hold before it would let me go on (maybe a NYS thing?). Anyway, I finally got the form completed through trial and error and it was accepted by the state, so despite a little frustration, it seems to be good.
What's great about it: The Federal S-Corp return went very smoothly and quickly. I could not believe how quickly I completed it.
What's not so great: NYS return had a very weak interview and mistakes in filling out the form were not well highlighted.

Quick filing

I am not an accountant, but TurboTax walked me through the filings for an S-corporation, so I didn't need to be. Some sections were harder than others, but overall TurboTax made it easy.
What's great about it: TurboTax provided the expertise
What's not so great: Balance sheet hard to get right

Very discouraged with Turbo Tax. You don't include Delaware S Corp tax forms. We were left alone trying to prepare Delaware S Corp taxes.
What's great about it: Federal taxes made very easy
What's not so great: State taxes very difficult, Don't even include Delaware S Corp

Have been using TurboTax for many years for my LLC. TurboTax makes it very easy. With my experience, it's easy to get to the areas that I know need information, and with TurboTax filling in company information (address, ID, etc) from earlier returns, my work is completed correctly and very quickly.

Trust Return Improvement suggestions

I had one trust that had 3 1099s from 3 different brokerages. You allow imports of 1099s on personal returns. Please also allow it for Trusts.

What's not so great: Nice to see on top if tax is due

Installment Sale confusing

I have issues with the interview process for business turbo tax. For example I can't figure out how to enter information from an installment sale via the interview process, only via forms. If I didn't have an extensive knowledge of taxes and know how to use the forms I wouldn't have been able to use Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: I like turbo tax and have used it for years.
What's not so great: The Business doesn't explain things as well as the Personal turbo taxes.
