Trust and Estate program is lacking this year

There is no box on the income page to record 1099-R income. I had to go back after the review portion and dig through to find how to insert 1099-R income. Then I had to dig again to report 1099-R Federal income tax withheld and State income tax withheld.
This years programmers are lacking in tax preparation knowledge.

What's not so great: Every year some new programmer changes everything

Getting Better

Have used TurboTax Business for B and C trusts for many years. The program is getting better at doing things for us.
Disappointed one can't download from the broker - since we had many transactions, had to use summary. Rather confusing how to show exceptions for summary on capital gains and thus broke summary apart to directly enter exceptions separate from the summary.
Foreign tax calculation was more straightforward this year though the request for explanation statements when income is passing through should be handled.
Also still disappointed that one can't buy the Business package with one state as combined package like other products.

Using TurboTax for 25 years. Until this year five stars but it was almost impossible to get answers to questions. When I finally got a live person on the phone my satisfaction went up to 6 stars.
What's great about it: Ease of use of product
What's not so great: It was difficult to get help

After several times reviewing the return TurboTax said every error was resolved and the return was ready to file. But, while in the middle of the electronic filing process there were more error checks and TurboTax asked for more entries. There were no help menus available and I just guessed at the depreciation entries asked for.

2016 Version has a bug

Shareholder information form had a bug. Auto selected that it is last year of share holder. Had a very had time spent days and hours to correct the issue and would not fix. Had to enter wrong data for Shareholder information for disposing the shares as it was forcing to enter a date without which it would not process the tax return.
As is lost money purchasing Turbo tax proseries and this is added agony that incorrect information was filed to NJ state because it is mandatory to e-file NJ taxes.

Not Perfect but Pretty Good

As an owner of an S-Corp I use TurboTax to file federal and state returns. For the most part it is easy to use, but it lacks integration with QuickBooks Online and error check is often not clear about the nature of issues it finds leading to a lot of guesswork and research. The online help is no help since it is not context sensitive. Finally, error check usually finds errors that the software should not have made in the first place.
What's great about it: Easy to Use
What's not so great: Sometimes Confusing
