No one at Intuit (QuickBooks or Payroll services) mention that turbotax Business will not work with QuickBooks online. However, you can buy the desk top version of QuickBooks to make it work...
What's great about it: I will be able to use the K1!
What's not so great: Turbotax Business does not work with QuickBooks online...

Nagging annoying problems

I use TT for Business to file a return for in irrevocable trust. There are four things I greatly dislike about this program. 1) This trust has significant investment activity. The fact that Business will not accommodate electronically uploading 8949 details is annoying. 2) You can attach your 8949 as a pdf file, however I've only been able to attach one pdf file to a return. When I'm working with several different investment accounts, it doesn't do me much good. I either have to hand enter all but one account, or I give up on electronic filing and mail a huge package to the IRS. 3) I'm a Mac user and dislike that there are no options for Apple OS, so I'm stuck having to work in Windows. 4) When the program conducts its review and finds errors, it opens a box on a particular line on a particular form with almost no explanation of the purpose of the form, the type of information its looking for, the source of the entry in question. In other words, I then spend significant time researching what I'm even looking at. It seems that TT needs to better decide what it's market is. Is it the professional tax preparer - in which case the program needs to be more sophisticated, or is it the user with a basic knowledge who is trying to deal with complex issues, in which case the program needs to be more informative and helpful.
Thanks!
What's great about it: Expertise
What's not so great: Lack of flexibility

Confusing

This is my first year using TurboTax for Business as I used an accountant in the past. The two biggest issues I have is that it requires you to have some knowledge of accounting/tax rules. In a few places I felt like I was completely guessing. The cost was an unpleasant surprise as the program keeps hitting you up for addons. At this point, I am not sure I would use it again.
What's great about it: Tries to step you through
What's not so great: Cost/confusing

Disappointing

NYS taxes was a complete waste of money. Download the State form that you need and skip this unhelpful download. Lacking helpful descriptions and loaded with bugs, doing the state manually took me less time last year.
What's great about it: Federal taxes were ok but not as helpful as the personal tax software
What's not so great: State software is awful

Use this every year since 2004..

This software is great for someone like me that waits until the last minute to get things done! Easy to use every year. Help and links to IRS website are understandable and easy to follow. I just wish there was a Mac version..so would have been 5 instead of 4 stars. This is the only reason I use a windows based system every year!
What's great about it: Easy to use, Additional Help is easy to understand
What's not so great: No Mac Version available

Just a week ago, I successfully efiled a 1041. Today, I am attempting to efile a 1041 for a different trust, BUT IT HAS EXACTLY the same types of income and expenses. But now, it won't let me---something weird going on with Schedule E. Thanks for nothing.
What's great about it: Great way to enter information for less than it would cost to pay someone else to do it
What's not so great: Weird errors---preventing me from efile

Turbo Tax Business SubPar

I'm very disappointed with the use of TT Business. You have clearly spent more software resources on developing your TT Personal products and less on the Business product.
Examples: 1. When completing 1041 forms, I cannot import from financial and brokerage accounts like on my 1040 forms.
2. The tax summary tab on Business does not show state taxes owed/refunded. It does not give the complete picture.
3. TT Personal shows a running total of taxes owed/refund while TT Business does not.
It seems that some of these simple functions are easy to port cross platform if you have written the software engine in a common format. Maybe you have different software teams working on the products? They don't share the same requirements or code base? (Yes, I'm an engineer and I have developed software).
What's great about it: I don't have to do all the calculations myself
What's not so great: The features and summary not at same level as TT for personal use.

I had to manually add Schedule D because the interview didn't know how to handle a long term capital loss.
What's great about it: Easy to navigate and find forms
What's not so great: Didn't know how to handle a long term capital loss
