2016 Corporate

I've used TT for the last several years. This year it looks like the product is down. TT calculated my tax wrong. I was in the 15% bracket and Sch. J used 35%. I had to manually correct this. Also, there needs to be more information about attachments. I'm still not sure that the 8453-c form was even attached to the return. TT's answer is just trust us, but I'd like to see this form included in the tax return filed PDF preview as well, not just as an attachment. Next year I'll seriously look at HRB and others.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: Tax calculation, 8453-c

Not well integrated with the rest of Intuit

We have an LLC, taxed as an S-Corp. We use quickbooks online, and we have Macs. We have to use the download version (not online) for an S-corp. The download version is only available for PC's, so I have to borrow a computer. My quickbooks online info does not import. Clearly Intuit is not investing in this product.
What's not so great: Business version has to be downloaded, and doesn't work on a MAC.

Business 2016 version has some issues
on March 11, 2017

The software has some issues running on Windows 10. The screen does not paint completely and only shows parts of the screen that I move the mouse over or maximize/minimize the window. Most of the forms seem to be missing. I was only guided through the W2, W3 and 1099 forms. No other forms seem to be available in the menus. My computer is kept up to date with the latest Windows updates.
What's not so great: Screens do not always paint/update properly, Only W2, W3 and 1099 forms were available to complete

TurboTax Business

I have been using TurboTax Business since incorporating in 2008. I have sought out licensed Accountants to review my entries and correct any discrepancies as needed. With TurboTax and the accountants help, I have learned to more closely manage my business finances in an economical manner. This has been quite a learning process as I have almost no experience in the private sector or a business owner.
What's great about it: Fairly simple to follow with step by step.
What's not so great: I would have preferred more of last year's information to automatically transfer.

In certain areas, the data from the worksheets didn't transfer properly to the forms. Had some trouble with the depreciation section, as it was hard to find the method our business has used for more than 25 years.
What's great about it: Familiar screene
What's not so great: Data didn't transfer as it should have

Corp & LLC Returns

Great software and have used it for years for my businesses and personal taxes.
This year they did not keep up with if you pay your franchise tax online prior to filing your return, for North Carolina. Even though you suppress the filing, the $ was still included in the return with no way of showing it was paid prior but not as an estimated payment.
What's great about it: Easy
What's not so great: Some things missing

I was unable to complete my return in one sitting, so I'd have to save my return and work on it at a later date. I did this several times and a few of the times TurboTax would change data that I'd already entered. I had to thoroughly go through my return each time and re-change certain items. I think updates affected these items. I also didn't like how I couldn't e-file my taxes because of some "errors" (which weren't errors at all). I had to print and mail and missed out on the convenience of e-filing.
What's great about it: Easy to use
Pros: I bought or sold investments
