Didn't like how it did not complete the Form 1116 (Copy 1) Deduction Items from Line 3b and B... This should be answered on the input section and not as an error at the end. Also during the questions it should be asked if the would be fully distributed and allow the $300 exemption... NEEDS WORK
What's great about it: Gives me a K-1
What's not so great: K-1 should be allowed in the Home & Business

it would be nice if business users could convert pdf to tax file. Other than that this is a great product.
What's great about it: import features, ease of use
What's not so great: file conversion

Printing Error

The final pages on my state return do not print the bar symbol. They only print gibberish. I hope my state takes my forms. I tried rerunning everything but that did not help. No help from search box. This may cause me extra work later. Very disappointing as this should be a simple command. There always seems to be a little problem here and there with Turbo Tax but it is better than the alternative of doing it manually.

The federal tax for small business is excellent and very easy to understand and file. The only negative would be the Texas forms, for some reason it will not efile. For the price that they charge it should be efiled.
What's great about it: Quickbooks data exports to it
What's not so great: Texas State forms... too expensive and they did not efile

I have accounting degree for both of Bachelor and Master, but I am working in Contract Auditing field not Financial Accounting or Tax Accounting. I had little bit of hard time to figure out about how to reconcile the booked amount to tax amount. In addition, I also had a hard time to accept system automatically calculated section 1250 gain on the disposal of one of our rental properties. After I asked an Accountant, who works for a Corporation, I got the reconciliation part. Then, we both did Google research about section 1250 gain, and understood that we took depreciation expenses for rental property, we really did not receive any benefits; but it is just a deferring pay of tax liability, which we have to claim a gain on those depreciation expenses that we claimed in the past years when we sold it. Anyway, after help from the accountant and research for the answers, we squired it up. just time. Overall, Turbotax is good software, I just wish there is a detail explanation or real person can help when we are stuck.
What's great about it: over all is easy and good
What's not so great: need specific Tax knowledges

No as user friendly as advertised

I found the program to be very glitchy and it was not clear what to answer in some instances. Most problems were with the California LLC part. Absolutely no explanations. None of the little Question Marks to click to see what was needed. For example it wanted me answer things about a form 3554 and I have no idea what it was after. I searched google and I finally decided it was applicable if we had full time employees so I answered "no" but don't even know what I was answering. And the "review" at the end is totally bogus. It isn't even looking for mistakes but rather wants me to review what I put down and figure out for myself if it was a mistake or not. The final submission after saying there were no errors...then came up with more blanks to fill in... All in all, not a good program.
What's great about it: Carries info over from prior year
What's not so great: Lots of glitches and unclear instructions

Good not great

Generally covers all the bases, but some difficulties with transferring info from QB. Once TT interprets a QB entry a certain way, it is sometimes difficult to make manual adjustments. On the state forms, I made a $1 negative rounding adjustment, and couldn't file electronically as a result. And while e-file wasn't allowed, it didn't offer any easy fix suggestions to revise the $1 entry. I like the product, but not as flexible as it could be.
What's great about it: Generally covered all the bases
What's not so great: Misinterprets some line items from QB

It would be really nice if the e-filing was more user friendly like it is for the personal tax returns. The S-Corp e-filing is very disappointing. I always have to print and mail my return because Turbo Tax doesn't work with Minnesota and the federal e-filing is tedious with the process. I've been using Turbo Tax for several years and really like it but really, really wish they could improve on the e-filing.
What's great about it: Familiar with format
What's not so great: E-file is tedious
