Business version-K1 entry for Trusts
on July 9, 2017
Posted by: jtrammell1955
We have to use the Business Version as I am the trustee of a Trust. Not having the ability to enter all "T/Z," codes from the 1065 K1 form not very supportive of clients. This going to the IRS on the worksheets you submit. TurboTax does provide the capability for in the Home and Business version,. This should be built into the Business Version as is currently coded into the Home and Business Version. Seems so simple to do. In addition, the forms saved and or printed do not print all the items you enter. there must be a max number. Thanks in advance. I have been attempting to address this for 3 years!
What's great about it: Some data can be entered for K1s
What's not so great: Cannot enter all lines 13 or 20 "T" "Z" data for Trusts

State taxes are too expensive
on August 12, 2017
Posted by: DoritoAZ
For 2 company returns (different entity types) the Fed software is cost effective. But I need to buy 2 state packages for the SAME state, since each state package only covers 1 entity type.
What's great about it: Software works well for 98% of situations
What's not so great: State business software costs more than Federal
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Feels like it's improved

Seems like it works a little better than before, but it's always been pretty good. If you've used it before, you're probably comfortable with it. But if you're a first time user, the prompts can be confusing -- they could be better done.
What's great about it: Quickbooks Import worked very well
What's not so great: Some of the prompts are confusing
