The best value for any 3DTV

This TV has exceeded my expectations. Everyone I've shown the 3D to has commented on how much they prefer the glasses to the competitors. I also really enjoy the connectivity with my PS3. How crazy the LG remote will operate my PS3. The only complaint I have is this model doesn't offer HBOGO. I previously had bought the 120hz google model which had HBOGO. I later decided to go with 240hz instead; only to find it wasn't on this model. However, a small price to pay for the quality of everything else

Great TV, apps could use some work

I was hesitant on this particular set because of some of the bad reviews out there regarding "flashlighting", where the light from the edge-lit LEDs would bleed through to the picture in various spots, noticeable on an all-dark screen. I'm glad to say that I did not experience this problem with my set. Quality-wise the picture is completely amazing. I did go through the picture quality wizard and "brightened" up things a bit. I didn't feel the need to tinker around with any "advanced" settings after that.
I like the magic remote. I find it much easier to point and click rather than go "up, up, up, left, down, right, enter" with the arrow keys on other remotes. It would have been nice to change inputs with a single button, however. I have yet to test out the voice commands.
I chose the 8600 over the 7600 model because of the dual processor. I've heard of complaints regarding slow app load time with the 7600. Well, even with the 8600 I feel that the load time and response time could be better. From the time I sit down to being able to watch a Netflix movie it is a good minute or so. Nonetheless, the apps are OK and functional. I use them. I may figure on getting a wireless keyboard to go with the TV because typing in letters with the magic remote can be cumbersome. It's OK for the once-in-a-while viewing but not when you spend an entire night on YouTube. Oh, and also, would it have been so awful to lay out the letters in QWERTY format (or the format of the keyboard layout of the chosen locale/region)? Really. So for now if I plan on doing any serious YouTube viewing or online viewing I just plug my laptop in.
As far as the other apps, the music and video apps were able to find my DNLA server and I am able to play my music and see *some* of my videos. There are a lot of videos that I have that cannot be played because of a codec issue. I hope LG updates can cure. The music app is a pain to use, so I don't use it. It is terribly cumbersome and slow to navigate and find songs on my server (and it is *not* my server speed or connection speed, trust me). Again, it is OK for the occasional use but if you want to set up a playlist or use the music or video apps for any length of time you will be better off using a real computer.
I tried the 3D functionality and it was pretty neat, but like most every other human I've talked to, I just end up never using it. It's neat to show friends and stuff and maybe for that occasional movie I might use it, but it does take away some of the quality of the picture (interlaced), and I'd rather just see it all in full HD.
All in all I am glad with the purchase, and I would make the purchase again. Although the apps I hear are better than a lot of other TV's apps, in the end TV manufacturers are not software engineers and it doesn't seem that these apps went through a lot of useability testing.

3D and Smart TV features really work well. Added LG Blu Ray Theatre BH6820SW and don't need to go to IMAX anymore.

As far as I can tell the only difference between this model and the LM7600 is this one has a dual core processor and the (beta) voice search. If you use the TV for internet frequently the processor is worth it. If just for tv, the lm7600 gives you the same quality. Myself, I'm glad I upgraded because of the time I spend online. The voice search is mostly ok but can be flaky (see SURI). Great picture and excellent 3D. Passive 3D is less strain on the eyes. Converts 2D to 3D pretty nicely. (Again, may be the dual core processor).Had it since Jan. 2013 and the Super Bowl was outstanding on this box.

I'm very happy with the overall performance of this TV. The picture is really crisp, especially after a quick calibration. High marks for the black levels and natural colors as well.
