[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 8 year old son was so excited to get The Air Hogs Star Wars Speeder Bike remote control drone. The picture online and on the packaging looked very cool.
When we opened the box and looked the product over, I noticed the product was made of a styrofoam material and my son immediately noticed the arm of the character was broken. There may have been some tears. After I taped it and explained to my son it still could fly, all was well until we realized it still had to charge (cue the waterworks). We managed to get the drone all charged up and my son had some fun "zooming around" for a bit, but unfortunately the charge didn't last very long. More tears. When it was working it was a lot of fun, but all in all it wasn't a super great toy experience and after a day, the toy had been forgotten.

The box could not contain the excitement

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When my son saw the box arrive he was so excited to tear into it and get things going. Unfortunately, I did not have the right number of batteries so there was a day delay to get things going. Once the battery situation was resolved it took us a while to figure out how to charge the thing. Plug a cord into the control that then plugs into the drone seems a bit overly complex. What I also noticed is that this set up is prone to issues in that if you need to move the drone when charging it is kind of a pain.
The actual toy was fun. It was super powerful....almost too much so for someone opening it right from the box. This was good and bad. The good is that once the toy is figured out there is some power behind it and skill required to optimize. Bad in the sense that a lot of kids need that instant gratification and it takes a bit to get the hang of it. We have had similar drones and knew how they worked but due to the speed i could easily see it breaking quickly with the crashes that occur at first.
Overall, I looked at the price online and it is a good product for the money. If your kid has patience and can quickly figure it out this is good. If your kid want to just pick up and go then maybe it is not the right fit.

Air Hogs - Speeder Bike - So fun!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 8 year old was SO excited to get this in the mail. We quickly unpacked it and he anxiously waited while it charged. Once charged he took it outside for the fun to begin. I will say out of every remote controlled "flying" toy he's ever had (and there have been SEVERAL) this one was by far the best! Great control of the drone, easy to figure out and it flew up SO high! The down side was that the charge didn't last long at all. So for the few minutes it was charged my son thoroughly enjoyed this product!

Fun toy but eats batteries fast

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The drone it self runs on a rechargeable battery. Took about an hour to charge. The remote control takes 6 aa batteries. That seems like a lot to me. The drone is very light and made of styrofoam and plastic. It was not to hard to fly. It took me about 5 minutes to get the hang of it. What I really like is the feature that limits how high it can climb in the air. My 8 year old son turned the limit switch of and crashed it on my neighbors roof. Good thing my neighbor was cleaning his gutters and was not a problem for him to get it down. On a full charge we were able to fly the drone for about 20 minutes. Not bad for our first attempt. The speeder bike and the scout trooper look authentic , like he came off the movie set.The bad part was on our fourth crash on the sidewalk, a front piece broke off. It did not affect the flight at all. Just wish that area was made stronger to handle all the crashes that will happen when children get this toy.

Air Hogs Star Wars Drone Family Fun

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So with 6 boys in our family this item piqued the interest of all of them (included my 7th child, my husband). They were extremely excited when the box arrived. Once the box is opened you need to have 6 batteries for the remote control and you do need to read the instructions to make sure it's all hooked up right so the actual drone can charge. Once it's fully charged get ready for some family fun (and a little fighting over who's turn it is). The only downfall is that it is very touchy and you have to correct yourself way more than you think until you get used to it. Since this is a product that flies in the air and I'm not very familiar with flying remote control products it did drop quite a few times, including when the boys played with it. The drone is made mostly out of plastic, but the Star Wars character on top is styrofoam, it held strong and never broke, there is a slight stress bend on one of the plastic propellers but no other major damage for how many times it fell 10-15 feet to the ground. The short and sweet run down: 1st: have 6 AA batteries ready if want to use this right away 2nd: give yourself some time to charge everything 3rd: be patient because it is hard to get used too. 4th: have lots of fun!!!

This Speeder Bike rocks!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a really great drone for kids that are just learning how to fly these fun types of toys. My son is 11, and this is his first drone but he learned how to control it pretty quickly. The stabilization feature is great for unsure first time flyers or younger kids who want to play with big kid toys. The drone will need to charge more often that kids would like, but in all reality the battery life on this Speeder Bike is just as good as my husband's $400 drone, so the battery life is good for the price of the toy. Very durable for a child's toy, but then again I do kind of expect that from Air Hogs, we love their RC toys. We live in a rural part of the desert so if the Speeder Bike does come down quickly, it's not a soft landing. There hasn't been any damage to the toy despite a few first time 'oopsies', and has kept my son entertained day after day.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When you say drone, there is too much controversy now a days but there is nothing controversial about this Air Hog Star Wars drone! Easy out of the box operation, not much packaging to remove, there was some confusion on why the actual drone was rechargeable but the remote wasn't but after I got batteries for the remote and got the speeder charged up it was off to the races. Easy controls got up in the air fast, because it is a speeder bike it wasn't made to fly very far off the ground. Once I got used to that I was able to fly around my back yard with ease. Super light but really indestructible, ran into a few walls at first but no damage sustained by the drone. Let my 10 year old son give it a shot it took him a while to figure out the controls but he got the hang of it mostly, (many walls and patio furniture suffered its wrath) It was awesome to share this with him. Stayed charged for a very long time, actually longer than I expected was able to fly it around I got tired before it did. This toy will get many hours of use between me and my son and from my experience so far it will survive it, unlike the troopers on speeders on the Forrest moon of Endor. Those trees wont stand a chance

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son thought the Star Wars Speeder Bike drone was fun but harder and more confusing to use compared to his other Air Hogs
