GoPro have made a decision to lock down the USB port so you can only use their over-priced accessories. This puts them in the same bracket as Apple! I'm temped to send my GoPro back!

Out of sync (here’s the only solution)

If you record with external audio input, it will drift out of sync.
The only way to ensure sync if you begin recording with this 3.5mm adapter UNPLUGGED then plug it in after recording started.
GoOro have fixed the sync issue with the media mod, but that contraption requires you to completely remove the camera from its mount to change cards or batteries, so kinda the same pains, transferred.

another thing unusefull !!

again, i invest so much money on gopro things to record my cockpit image and audio and its simply unusefull... i dont understand how this is possible... first of all, gopro got complicates what was simple and as if that wasn't enough someone invented something that looks like a weird appendix that swings from side to side (I can see those cables won't last long). To make it minimally useful we have to buy this and that to suport that... thats the business. secondly, the box doesn't have enought instructions (thanks youtubers for helping me on manage and set up this "fantastic" adapter) i'm still trying to unveil how set this up for gopro 10 and finally record the comunications between pilot and air traffic controler.

Big bulky with way to short of a cable to connect to go pro. Works half the time and I have tried multiple microphone types on it. 9 times out of 10 it kicks out while I’m riding after 2 mins and then just makes a slow fart sound for the rest of the time which is lovely. Don’t waste your money maybe in a few years they will figure it out. Probably not

Produit certe de qualité mais il ne marche pas avec mon micro cravate rode ( dommage je l'avait pris pour ca.. ) avec sous sans l'adaptateur de sortie jack . J'ai essayé divers réglages micro , micro plus etc même résultat...le module est bien détecté par la gopro mais aucun son au record ou alors je zappe un truc :/

Can't get it to work

Despite having my firmware updated, rebooting, etc, I can NOT get this thing to actually record any audio on either of my GoPro cameras. The USB-C plug can only be plugged in one direction. If I turn it over, both cameras go into an on/off cycle until I unplug it. It must be doing something when I plug it in, because it kills the internal microphones and nothing records at all. But when I plug in my external mic (which is a TRS style), it records absolutely no sound.

The adapter works fine when it works

Currently there is still some connectivity issue that will result in no sound on some videos.
The Hero 9 gives no adjustment for mic gain, so unless you have a lower sensitivity mic then you with get pops and cracks from any sudden bursts of noise.
If GoPro implemented a mic gain adjustment or something of the sort and made the connection more stable it would be a great product. As is, it's good for outdoor recording (not motovlogging) when it does indeed connect with the camera and provide sound.
