why useless (again)

i will just repeat what someone wrote here and nobody care (as i have exact same case):
bought it in order to record myself while riding my motorbike,, also bought a cheap mic to be able to give the sound to the gopro and thanks to the comment also had to buy the passdoor.
i was very exited like, recording without the mic is a bit boring. got the mic with a standard 3.5mm jack and got some adapRead more about review stating why so useless?ter with it, even a usb C to jack then i was like oh yeah let's try them, first the ultra cheap adapter since it came for free with the mic and it work great, no noise or anything else than my voice, second test, using this adapter and guess what: not a single sound, the best way to loose time and money. Had to test the usb C adapter too and yes it work but again, spending that much just to have the Type C cable connected to an extender throught a door and every part was paid, really useless

Needs reset each use

I use the drift mic alongside with this adapter and my gopro hero 6 black.
So far so good BUT... each time you turn your gopro off, you MUST disconnect and reconnect the battery and the microphone (a soft reset) otherwise you will completely use audio.

Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter ineffective on GoPro Hero 9

GoPro have done a software update on the Hero 9, which renders this item useless, the software now cancels out external mic connections on ANR Headsets for pilots. GoPro solution spend more money on a Media Mod, this revamp of software happened in 2020and a revised update solving came a couple of months later. Come on GoPro support your customers

Works well with my GoPro 7 Black

I use the Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter to connect the RODE GO II to the GoPro 7 Black. It is difficult to use without a means of attaching it either to the GoPro or another piece of equipment, such as, motorcycle, bicycle or helmet. I purchased a third party case that holds the Mic Adapter and enables connection to the GoPro. The RODE GO II wireless receiver clips into the cold shoe of the case with the RODE short 3.5mm cable connecting the receiver with the adapter. The set up is reasonably compact and importantly one unit that can be mounted on a selfie pole or helmet mount. The case is NOT waterproof but then neither is the GoPro as the connector door has to be removed to attach the adaptor cable. The adaptor and RODE GO II wireless mics work well. Only downside is that the adaptor is rather large and awkward to mount.
