Great for Vlogging Rig

I bought this adapter to use with my vlogging rig. I prefer it over the media mod due to the Florida heat. This mic adapter doesn't cause GoPro overheat.

Rubbish Product

I have tried six different powered and non-powered external microphones and tried all the different media mod settings on my Hero 9. This piece of junk does not work. The volume is so low on the wav file, no amount of increasing the level in editing software can produce a good result. A complete waste of money.

Almost perfect, but one big caveat

Let me say up front that my use case is outside of what GoPro intended. I record sports that last longer than 15 minutes and have no cooling airflow. This adapter is perfect for adding a mini shotgun microphone, but there's a caveat that you should be aware. This adapter doesn't allow enough current to run the camera from an external battery alone. If you run the camera with external battery along with an internal battery, then it overheats and shuts down. Updated firmware didn't help. Not GoPro's fault, but would have been great if it could have passed more power to the camera.

When plugged into the ICS system in the helicopter it puts a gun in the ICS and the video itself.

The adapter is working but hope Go Pro is making plans to include the 3.5mm input on future models. Not sure they haven't already. I'm using a Go Pro 7 Black

Excellent adaptor for my GP Hero 7 and now 11

I bought this adapter to connect the awesome Edutige ETM-001 mic to my GP. This little adapter has worked flawlessly for the past 3 years, first with my Hero 7 Black and now Hero 11 Black. The sound quality is wonderful and it has never failed me once. I use this with the Ulanzi GP-9 metal cage and the adapter goes into the bottom slot and sits perfectly. Not sure why some are giving it poor reviews. Definitely is user error on their part. 2 other friends and I have had this device for years now with no issues. Read the manual and get the correct mic (you need a TRS style mic, NOT a TRRS. If you have a TRRS mic, you will need a TRRS to TRS adapter). Highly recommended.
