Decent most of the time

When this is working, it's fantastic as it allows me to plug in a Rode lav mic for hugely improved audio. So, for at least 75% of the time, it's GREAT. But sometimes it causes (? amplifies?) a weird helicoptering sound. I don't know what it is, and have so far not been able to predict when it will happen.
And yes, it is bulky and a little awkward, but I knew that going in. I can deal with that in exchange for the audio improvements.

Gopro is slowly going downhill. They do not listen to their customers in regards to the user compatibility. This is by far one of the worst designs I have seen. HUGE FAIL!

Effective but Not Loved

To use the adapter you must pull off the side door making it vulnerable to moisture and dust. It is very large and seems like the charging port is unnecessary unless it was designed to be plugging into a wall. It nonetheless works yet to mount a mic with the GoPro is very difficult. Most mic's are hot shoe and there are not many adapters that allow for a GoPro mount and hotshoe. Overall it works but I don't love it.

It's connected to the headphones output and I can hear the conversation loud and clear. Also the engine noise is now only 2% of what it was. It's a must have!

Pro 3.5 mic. Adapter

The mic. adapter for the GoPro hero 5 is over priced, bulky and completely in the way when using the GoPro. Why on earth would you bill yourself as the best compact action cam and then come up with a brick of an adapter to connect an external mic.

Works, but way oversized

Not sure what the issue is, but gopro seems to have made it difficult or impossible for anyone else to make a sound plug adaptor. That wouldn't be so terrible if they have made one themselves that is reasonably priced and small in size.
Instead, they made a unit that is way, way oversized and which is very difficult to work with on the camera.
Yeah, it has a pass-thru, which will no doubt be super handy in some instances, but if you don't need it, it is a waste of space. GoPro needs to have two models and let you choose what suits your situation.
