Extremely disappointed

I bought a Hero5 with the intention of using whilst motorcycling and I want to capture audio through a better mic than the inbuilt one. I wish I had learned about the need for this specific adapter before purchasing the Hero5 as if I had known it was necessary, I would have chosen another camera.
The adapter is ridiculously large and defeats the purpose of using a GoPro as now I have to have two mounts on my helmet and the whole set up is quite bulky.
At the very least, I hope that GoPro releases a smaller version of this adapter compatible with the Hero5 before abandoning the model and moving onto the Hero6. For the amount this company charges for their products, I feel that they at least owe their customers that much.
A big let down to find that such a well respected and recommended company has released a product which is not really fit for purpose.

Loose connection

The mic adapter is loose and sometimes causes the connection to be lost entirely. Tried multiple mics and adapters. Same result.

3.5mm Mic Adapter—Really?

For a company famous for scaling things down, this mic adapter is a disaster. It's like a giant elephant trunk hanging off the camera, making it much more difficult to use the camera in action shots. I mean: COME ON !!
GoPro needs to fix this and fix this fast.

Mic adapter works well but you have to keep the door open or remove the door on the side to plug it in, which means the camera is no longer waterproof.
With wifi and bluetooth in the camera I would have thought gopro could have come up with a better solution.

Gopro continues to miss the mark. This device is overpriced and bulky defeating the purpose of the small camera. It's almost as laughable as their 'mobile first' strategy. Too much dope in CA to run a business properly.
