Be warned, With Hero5 Black at least, QuickCapture may not work properly with non-powered mics

For me, the first press of QC works as expected--records audio from the external mic just fine. I end the clip with another press of QC. But if the camera is not power-cycled before the next press of QC, the second and any subsequent clips using QC, do not record any audio through an external mic. I have found this does not affect recording without a mic, which works fine, but low quality audio in that configuration is why I'm trying to use the external mic. After the initial QC with external mic, if I power the camera before pressing record (so not using QC capabilities) audi records fine. This is inconvenient compared to the one-press of QC and after a clip requires either careful use of the on/off button or you have to look at the camera to know if it's on or has turned off by itself before you press record/QC again.

Pro mic adapter

Solidly built product and works exactly as expected. However I have 2 main complaints. The form factor is a little large for me personally and the price is also high in my opinion for what it is. I knew this going into the purchase but there are no alternatives if you want more premium audio quality out of your gopro. So all in all, a little frustrated with the size/price, but if you want killer audio, this is the way to go.

It was so bad that it died on first use. Used with my hero 6 for about 30mins. I am very disappointed about this product and would not recommend to anyone.l

Why so big??!! Really GoPro??!!!

I can't understand why this adapter is so large? Its larger than the camera which is mind-boggling considering that the adapter provides only a handful of small purposes. I am a motorcyclist, so having this extra "Thing" attached to my helmet, that I constantly have to plug in and unplug, is kind of a pain.
This reason is why I gave this item a 3 star. It does its job well but it could be better. I expected better from GoPro.
While you are at it, create an adapter that allows Sena Bluetooth users to record audio from other users. Similar to what the GoPro 4's had with the Sena audio pack. I have a 6 and the content I capture would be so much better if the camera could hear the other people involved.

Improperly fitting USB-C and 3.5mm ports

Perhaps my unit is defective, but what are the odds that *both* the USB-C and 3.5mm ports are out of spec?
USB-C cables do not fully seat on the adapter, leaving about 2 to 3mm of the connector exposed and therefor prone to walking out. It seats sufficiently to charge the camera via an external battery, but isn't suitable for field use.
The 3.5mm port also has a loose fit, even worse than the USB-C port. The slightest bump will dislodge the 3.5mm connector. It is wholly unusable in a real world setting.
