Expensive and bulky.

Go pro has been known for its robust design and portability and this accessory destroyed it. So sad... We were forced to buy this crap just to make external mics work.

I just bought one of this Mic adapter there is problem with the mic adapter or my cam i don't know exactly but it doesn't record sound when I connected mic to adapter

The Pro 3.5 MIC Adapter is a scam. Go pro removed software to allow you to use it on your Hero 9 black forcing you to spend more money on more accessories. There are youtube videos showing that the "Mic Input" was removed after your Hero 9 Updates when you first turn it on.

Compatible with Hero 9 (but not really)

If you want to use a third party mic with a Hero 9, you need the Media Mod for Hero 9. This adapter does not work with the Hero 9 as of this moment, unless you have the Media Mod, which means that you don't need to buy this, because the Media Mod already has a 3.5mm port for your external microphones.
I received a message from GoPro support by email, where they clearly said that this adapter requires the media mod. Which is contradicting to the purpose of the media mod. If you have the media mod, you don't need this adapter.

Hero 9 can't use this adapter (yet)

This adapter works perfect with my Hero 7, but not at all on the Hero 9. The hero 9 doesn't have the menu option to enable the external mic connection. It seems like the firmware needs an update to enable it. Same problem wit TRS and TRRS sources. It just doesn't work on the Hero 9 as of Sep 20, 2020. I am on the phone with support as I type this, and they made me reset the camera and do a manual update. Nothing works. They claim the support ticket will be escalated internally at their support team.
