Poor Airflow & Noisy
on January 16, 2022
Posted by: Toonjunkie
Initially had issues with this unit vibrating horribly while running higher speed than low. Diagnosed to find out the vent to outside was done incorrectly. With this fixed, we still notice the fan is noisier than the ratings on the site, and also the vent doesn’t really pull in air from the cooktop except what is directly under the left side of the hood (where the actual fan is located). Overall, this is a disappointing fan and I’m looking forward to the point where I can replace it with something that actually works.

Hi there, Thanks for your review! We appreciate the chance to help out. The grease screens underneath the hood do not pull air equally. The design of this model has the intake for the single blower offset from the center toward the left side. This will result in a much stronger pull on the left side than the right side. However, the overall capture of the smoke is very good. Also, the airflow into the hood will set up a draft that pulls the smoke from both sides of the cooking surface. We're sorry for any inconvenience with the sound level and will share your valuable feedback with our product team.
Thank you for choosing GE Appliances, we hope this helps! - Sharon@GEA

Hello there, we're so sorry to hear your hood stopped working after the warranty period expired. This is never what we want to see for any of our consumers, so we understand how frustrating this would be.
With that said, we see you have service scheduled so we want you to know we're confident our technician will be able to get you taken care of. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention so we can work to make sure this doesn't happen again and we're wishing you the best.
Not happy with this hood at all. It has one fan on the left side only which means you never get to use the right burners on your cooktop? If you use the right burners, nothing gets pulled into the hood. In fact, it strangely blows fumes, smells right in to the room. Not worth the money - don’t buy.

Hi - Thank you for posting a review of your vent hood. We are sorry to hear you're unhappy with the performance and design of the unit and can appreciate your concerns. This particular model is designed so it can be vented externally or vented internally with the addition of the optional charcoal filters. We are glad to see you have scheduled a service appointment with an authorized GE service location to have the unit checked. They will be able to determine if the unit is installed properly or if there is an issue that needs to be addressed. Kind Regards, Vikki@GEA
Hood was inoperable. It took a service technician to reveal the hood was not constructed properly in manufacturing. Thank goodness for an excellent tech who got the device working.

Hello there, we're terribly sorry to hear your hood didn't work at first, but very pleased to know one of our technicians was able to get you taken care of. We're sure this was frustrating, so we appreciate your patience and we're wishing you the best.
Followed manual boost 10-minute installation; motor works, no suction right hand; left hand practically insignificantly

Hello. We thank you for supporting GE Appliances with the purchase of this hood. To operate the boost fan you must hold the MED pad for 3 seconds. This was a fast installation if it took only 10 minutes. The tissue test below can be used to check proper draw of the vent. This test also applies to high-low ranges and high-low microwave vents.
Turn the vent fan on HIGH and hold a tissue under the vent area. The suction should hold the tissue in place. The draw is equal on both sides. It is normal to have some air blowing out of the top grill.
If the unit does not hold the tissue, check for proper installation of the fan ductwork. Refer to the installation instructions for complete instructions. If the vent is installed properly and is still not drawing, contact service. For service, please schedule an appointment with GE Appliances Factory Service. Stay safe. Geoff@GEA
We purchased 3 of these. All damaged in shipment from different vendors. Damage all in the same place. None left in the market so just kept it and we’ll be looking at the dents whenever we use it. Good features and fair price poor logistical execution from the manufacturer.
