Top of hood vent not closed off when vented outsid

My range hood is leaking air via the vent for the recirculation feature. We are vented to the outside, so one of the internal plastic pieces is supposed to close off the recirculation vent, but there is a gap and we are getting cold air coming into the house from this spot and it is blowing smoke back into the kitchen. How to turn it off?
Originally I wanted a "beefier" hood, I wanted it to be a stand out feature in our new kitchen. But due to cabinet design this model fit the space and budget. I didn't expect to like it as much as I do. It's very sleek and unassuming, it fits right into the look I wanted for our kitchen. The controls are easy to access and operate with one hand while cooking.
This hood vent was selected by me over many others for new home construction install. Out of the box the unit had three defects: Lights flash on and off The fan vibrates badly at all speeds And the fan blows air back into house due to poorly designed flimsy plastic fan housing that has a huge gap at the top
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased five different appliances for my kitchen remodel. After this one was installed, it would not turn on. Disappointed that I had to have a service come out and tear it apart to find a wire not connected from the factory. I guess they don't test these things!
Overall, this unit is made very cheaply for the price paid.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to write your review on your new hood. This is not something we would expect to hear and we will share your comments with our quality control team. We hate to hear that you have been inconvenienced. Thank you, again, for your feedback.
Our range hood is leaking air via the vent for the recirculation feature. We are vented to the outside, so one of the internal plastic pieces is supposed to close off the recirculation vent, but there is a gap and we are getting cold air coming into the house from this spot.
We bought this range hood to complement our GE Profile 5-burner cook top. The product is very well made and easy to install. During typical cooking we will run the exhaust fan on level 1 and it does the job well. It is quiet, doesn't vibrate, and efficient. When cooking items that are a bit smokey, we bump it up a notch. Again, no complaints.
