All looks, no function

This vent hood looks great and has great light, problem is, it doesn't have any real suction power. It only has one fan, and that is offset to the left hand side of the vent so it really doesn't pick up anything from the right hand side of the stove. On high speed the vent can barely hold a piece of kleenex to the filter. This unit is also extremely loud. It came with our house from the builder, but after 3 months we are going to replace with something more powerful. I would not recommend buying this unit at all. Spend a little more money and get something that actually does a good job

Purchased this range for upgrade with builder. Lasted little over year and no longer works. called to get estimate to fix. $99 plus parts and labor.

This unit was installed by the builder and it supposed to vent outside but it keeps blowing outside and partially inside. I've had 2 service visits and they can't fix the problem. What is it with the design of this unit?

Hello. We thank you for supporting GE Appliances with the purchase of this hood. To operate the boost fan you must hold the MED pad for 3 seconds. This was a fast installation if it took only 10 minutes. The tissue test below can be used to check proper draw of the vent. This test also applies to high-low ranges and high-low microwave vents.
Turn the vent fan on HIGH and hold a tissue under the vent area. The suction should hold the tissue in place. The draw is equal on both sides. It is normal to have some air blowing out of the top grill.
If the unit does not hold the tissue, check for proper installation of the fan ductwork. Refer to the installation instructions for complete instructions. If the vent is installed properly and is still not drawing, contact service. For service, please schedule an appointment with GE Appliances Factory Service. Stay safe. Geoff@GEA

Expensive Light Fixture and Noisemaker

Sleek and lightweight compared to the heavy stainless steel hood it replaced. Because the new hood is not ducted to the outside, the installers configured the duct for indoor exhaust and added a charcoal filter to the fan intake. The fan is located above the left rear warming burner location of the new GE cooktop. Steam rises from water boiling on the left front burner straight up to moisten the left LED light and then migrates around the front edge of the hood, never pulled back by the fan no matter the speed setting. The fan is so loud that conversation is impossible. I am considering replacement after four months.

Happy with my Range Hood
