A decent fast-paced printer overall. This printer does jam easily depending on the type of paper you use and wish it included edge-to-edge printing, but over all a decent printer for medium-sized work flow for your print jobs.

Quality of Tech Support

This is the second tech agent that couldn't help me with the OCR software that is included with my Canon Printer. I felt like the two issues I had were not taking seriously. I'm very disappointed with Tech Support.

One Major Flaw

Overall, I'm happy with the printer. It does a nice job scanning documents and pictures and does a good job printing documents. It does have one major flaw, however, It does not have a setting for printing in draft mode. The only options are high and standard. I am a writer and prefer to print my drafts in draft mode to save ink. If I had known this did not have a draft mode I would not have bought it.

Stopped printing black

After 3 months this printer stopped printing black. No text, no outlines (uses cyan), nothing. Cleaned print heads, deep cleaned, power cycled, switched paper type, and it will work for 2 prints and stop again. I was a longtime Canon customer, but no more. I should not have to continually so steps and waste ink to make my printer print properly. I must add we only used Canon OEM ink.

Poor Product

Purchased product about a year ago and the unit has had to be replaced 3 times already in that time span for the same problem code 5040 which is a hardware failure code per phone support and can not be fixed by the end user and must be returned for a replacement unit.

Too Complicated, Period!

If there is handwritten parts on a document, it must be scanned as .jpg, otherwise it's it's all jumbled badly, with misc. text boxes and Letters that I've yet to find an explanation for. Also a bummer, the auto document feeder in .pdf only. SO I get to scan one at a time... the hundreds and hundreds of handwritten docs for which I'd planned to use the auto feeder. The top portion that must be lifted is heavy and awkward because it wants to slam itself shut hard and fast each time I start to close it but it's so heavy I won't try it.
The paper holders must be registered every single time you pull it out, which I find ridiculous. I have to read and reread the manual which is of little help anyway because there are so many options I can't remember what does what and when from one print job to the next. The quiet feature is fabulous if you're not in a hurry. And good luck figuring out how to print photos. The coolest feature is you can scan like a dozen photos at once and they come out as individual files if you can figure out how to do it. I read about it but it happened on accident, now I can't remember how I did it. But, as long as the pics fit on the glass and I keep a fraction of space between all edges...I know it can be done.
If you think you're going to print hundreds of docs at once, go elsewhere, the ink gets lighter and lighter with over 20 pages I've found.

since you won't find this out until it's too late, i'll just let you know that when you run out of color ink, the black in won't print either. nice stab in the back, canon!

Driver issues
on March 14, 2018

If you are using windows 10, run away. The drivers work very poorly and need major updates. As of March 2018, they still do not work correctly.
