I chose this Cuisinart food processor because it was picked as the best by America's Test Kitchen. It seemed awfully expensive, but when the Hamilton Beach model I'd had for many years died when I tried to make pizza dough, I found a good deal and bought this winner. I didn't use my old one much because it was so difficult to clean, but this Cuisinart has nice, straight sides without a lot of nooks and crannies, so it cleans and dries quickly and easily. It is also very quiet and has the strength to handle doughs. I took the advice of another reviewer and made a spot on my countertop for it so it would be more convenient to use, especially since it is rather heavy. It actually has a relatively small footprint and looks very nice with it's stainless and black colors which coordinate very well in my kitchen. It earns it's piece of valuable countertop real estate! I find I use it much more frequently and it has made quick work of everything I have used it for, including cleanup.
We purchased this processor to replace a 30+ year old Cuisinart Super Pro 7 that we could no longer find a replacement work bowl that would work. To our pleasant surprise all of our old slicing, grating and shredding discs, of which we had quite a few, fit this new model. The pusher is a bit different and works a bit differently than our old model, but besides that everything else seems fine.
I gave away my KitchenAid 11-cup food processor because it had trouble holding enough shredded carrots and a small cabbage for coleslaw. In addition, when I blended cream cheese, sugar, and cream to make one 9' Basque cheesecake, the liquid would flow out onto the counter from the opening under the blade. This one is much easier to clean, the feed tube is versatile, and there is a safety feature to prevent the food processor from operating if the feed tube pusher is not properly engaged.
A must-have if scalloped potatoes are in your dinner rotation. The safety stop requires slicing a larger potato in half, but that beats slicing 5 pounds of potatoes by hand or slicing your fingers clean off. The larger capacity allows you to process all you need without a side holding bowl.
The instructions are very poor in my opinion. The parts are not well explained. I see no explanation of how to put the different discs in. There is a shaft to put them iin. It is not even listed as a part I have only used without attachments thus far and the typical chopping function is fine. Even though we owned this same model before my husband could not get it yo chop the first time because something in the feeding tube wasnt aligned perfectly. It is somewhat idiosyncratic and therefore ought to have much clearer directions
great workhorse, replaced a 35 year old cuisinart that broke. Glad that they are similar size and design. I expect to get many years of use out of this one. Well designed.
