great Microwave, have not had a chance to utilize all the features that come with it. love the fact that it was not much larger than the one it replaced, even though it has a larger capacity.

Not What I Excepted

We got all new GE Cafe Appliances for our new home. The microwave has been a bit of a disappointment. My old, fairly cheap microwave popped popcorn beautifully with our silicon popping bowl, butter and popcorn. For the life of me I can't get the GE Cafe microwave to pop a bowl of popcorn. It just burns the butter, so I tried it with olive oil. It works, but doesn't pop all of the kernels and just burns if you try to get them to pop. We were also excited to use the convection oven aspect of the MW. We had a toaster oven that we used all the time and wanted to be able to use the convection MW in it's place. We can't get things to brown. It takes a very long time for it to preheat. My stove/oven heats up faster than the convection MW. Was just hoping for more considering the amount of money paid.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We truly hate to hear you’ve found your microwave to be a bit of a disappointment – we know any issue with not being able to pop popcorn, not being able to brown items using convection and a long preheat time would be frustrating to deal with. We’d like to assist.
The Popcorn setting does cook based on which selection you choose for bag size – for example, if the weight is 3.0 Oz, you should press the Popcorn setting twice. Our Convection cooking uses a heating element and fan set up to circulate heated air throughout the oven and around the food; this option is designed to produce golden brown exteriors. For best results, we do recommend using the provided racks to allow proper air circulation and even browning. More information on using this feature is also available in the manual, starting on page 14. Regarding the preheating time, we anticipate that it may take about 10 to 15 minutes to heat to 350 degrees F; we regret any inconvenience that may cause.

Smaller interior than expected due to te exposed upper burner. The microwave works but the other options for broil and bake do not. Takes exceedingly long time with minimal results.

poor excuse for a microwave

The cafe microwave is of poor quality and function. Buttons are small and hard to read.

Solid features, but can't function under-counter

Overall, the microwave has seemed pretty good. It's got good features and works well. The smart-appliance functionality is great. That said, I can't really use all the functionality because even though they sell a kit for it to be installed under-counter and/or in a cabinet, it's not actually designed for that. That really just prevents you from using the Convection Oven functionality, which admittedly we don't use a ton, but also that's part of what drives the price point up.
