No battery life and one of them over heated and melted my good hammer drill through the adapter. This is unacceptable as a contractor who has used Dewalt tools for over 20 years. First they change the batteries so we have to buy all new cordless tools and then the batteries don't work. 4 batteries in just under 6 months. none of them work. So I now have a collection of brand new cordless tools with no power to run them.

5 yrs ago I bought a combo set that ACTUALLY came with 20v Max XR batteries, that truly had XR on the battery and would last weeks of daily use..The 20v Max that their selling today is horrible and barely hold a charge throughout the day....Very disappointed in the lesser quality and cannot find the 20v Max XR battery anymore anywhere...

I purchased these two batteries as part of the 20v to 18v adapter kit because my original batteries died and needed to finish a job. Well the adapter is so hard to remove and the batteries even though charged only light 2 bars and if i leave them in the device i.e drill they will be discharged in 1hr. Really disappointed and thinking of getting rid of all Dewalt tools and going to Milwaukee.

What happened to battery life?

I have had these 20 volt batteries for just over a month and use the 18volt adapter that came with them. The life of the batteries is very short. Even shorter if you leave them hooked up to the adapter on the screw gun. Considering changing from DeWalt to another brand. I have had Dewalt products for more than 20 years. Everything I have is 18 V so I thought I would upgrade and convert to 20 V batteries because the 18 V batteries do not seem to last as long as they used to. But I’m thinking I will go to another brand altogether and give up on the yellow and black.

I've been using the 2ah batteries daily for about 3 years. I find that they last for many days of work in an impact gun and not long on a grinder. I use the appropriate battery size for the tool and job. I get great results from these little guys. They are so much lighter, last much longer, charge faster, and don't need to be replaced as often as the 18v I used before. The old 18s lasted 2 years maybe 3 before getting canned. The 18s would be tired after just 18 months. I can't tell the difference between my oldest 20v battery and the one I just bought.
I've had numerous tool drops, some from ladder height and some from table height, and the tools and batteries just keep going
