Couldn’t help me on the weekend. I work. Printer won’t print with just black ink

Hi Ari,
I am apologetic that you could not contact support over the weekend. Did you try www.support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp/? There was a lapse in the customer service we want for our customers. As for printing without the color cartridges, it won't happen. The printers are designed to require both color and black ink. To save money on color ink, use the black ink only setting. With this setting, you should only need to change ink only.
What people should know about this product is that if the chip on the cartridge gets outdated then all of your very expensive ink is trash. Brand new HP cartridges that don’t work. So buy them one at a time.
Expensive but they work right down to the last drop, no problems!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Just pop it in - no errors, problems, or drama

The large (972X) high yield cartridge reduces cost per page.
Order with free next day delivery when the warning message appears, and have it in stock when the cartridge becomes empty. (You can also monitor your print supplies remaining life with PageWide software as needed.) No driving to the store in traffic, searching the shelves to see if it’s in stock, waiting in checkout lines and driving back (all valuable time wasted and a distraction).
Just pop out the old empty cartridge and pop in the new. No errors, problems, or drama.
On the carton it states “Designed for superior business performance.” PageWide cartridges reproduce photos without vast amounts of wet ink. My documents alway print sharp, and don’t smear, streak, or run. I’ve never had to worry about quality or performance issues with HP original cartridges.
We are pleased with the functions and quality of the printer for our office of 6. Had out techie set up the scanning to desktop and email. Easy to use. It's a tad noisy, think about where you'll place it.
I purchased the printer because I do a lot of imaging. My 8710 was eating up ink and couldn't handle heavier weight paper. The MFP 477dw does handle the paper ok and it's relatively fast. But I'm afraid the cost of ink will still be an issue. Plus, I really needed borderless printing, which I thought I could work around, but I can't. So, bottomline, it does essentially what is advertised, except maybe the claims for cost of operation (ink!).
