just bought your XP-400 printer, found it hard to set up, but once I got it set up tried to print with it. The results I got were of poor quality and tried to remedy it by the instruction on the screen. then I got a message the ink levels were low and I needed to replace them. The ink was suppose to be brand new that came with the printer. very dissatified.

The printer connected easily to my computer via USB and when I set up the wireless on the printer it easily connected to my phone (I Phone 5) and I am able to print from my phone to the printer. I have not been able to get my computer to talk wirelessly to the printer yet. The computer, my phone, and the printer are all connected to the same wireless network. Any suggestions?

I like my new Epson printer. It is small enough to place on my desktop. It must go there because the paper sticks up and so it cannot go on the shelf below. In truth that would be more convenient. It works well now but I have had to be on the phone with techies at Epson four times in order to get it set up and in order that I be guided as to how to use the three functions. The only thing I want to do now is call one more time to get it set up for remote printing in case I need to print something for my husband's work and travel.

There appears to be no way of printing only B/W when one of the color cartridges is low. Very disappointed.

All I want to do is print B&W documents for school but this printer frustrates me to no end. Instructions are not clear and I've already had to replace the color ink even though I rarely print in color. Since this replacement, the printer does not work! The test page prints fine but when I try to print something else, the machine whirs and clicks and then spits out a blank page. Can't get it to work and I am not happy!

I have been a tech support analyst for over 20 years and I can say I am fairly well impressed by this product so far. I have helped struggling users setup printers for years and I can verify that the install process for this printer is one of the best I've seen. The setup quick guide is both graphic and text (Text written by someone with English as a 1st language too.) It is clear and accurate and the setup went exactly as described. As almost all printers, it does not come with a USB cable and one is recommended for setup, but is NOT required as you can setup wireless on the printer control panel (not recommended.) -Wireless setup using the USB cable was flawless. I use Windows 8 and the network was detected and the printer was added to the network with my only validating the SSID. Total time to setup on a fast system, and an experience tech who was not in a hurry, less than 30 minutes. Pros- I like the Epson feed from back paper flow it has always seemed more logical to me. The control panel of the printer can swing upwards and has adjustable angle, nice feature. Print quality is excellent. Cartridges are easy to install and documentation was very clear. Replacement ink prices are less than HP by about 50%. Scanning SW impressed me. Put the item on the bed, press scan, it will ID it as a document or photo, black and white or color and scan the item automatically. If more than one photo, if separated vertically, it will scan them individually without manual selection of each photo. if 2 or more are in a row, it will either scan the row or the entire page. We are scanning an album and have run 40+ scans, the image quality is impressive. Cons - I have 2 and neither are a surprise. Photo printing of a full page of photos is SLOW, but the photos are printed on photo paper with better that drug store quality. Speed vs quality, I take quality. The other item of note is that after 15 or so scans, the printer would lose wireless connection with the scan SW and a reboot of the printer was needed to restore. Not a big issue as I plan on re-installing printer configured for USB cable in the future and will only use the wireless to print form mobile devices.

I bought this printer for one reason,to print from my iPad. I downloaded the Epson iPrint app and it recognizes the printer. The only thing it will print is a very low grade picture, tried to print an email and it printed about two inches and stopped. The screen on the printer said "printing" but it wasn't. It will print decent text via wireless from the computer.
