A Frustrating and Unreliable Printer
on October 11, 2015

First of all, when I tried to buy this product I had to return it twice because I was sent a defective product and didn't even work right out of the box. Epson's customer service was great to get the products sent out quickly - but it's still frustrating that the production standards are so low that only 1 in 3 printers worked right. So after mailing and awaiting a new printer x2, they sent me one that worked. I liked the wifi set-up and the ability to print from one's phone. The scanner worked well too.
But if only this were a reliable printer. Search the internet, and you will discover many people searching for help with this printer. I've found that it will frequently stop working for one reason or another. Currently, I'm in yet another battle with this printer (another of many) and it will not print at all despite cleaning the heads/nozzles, changing the ink, and scouring the online forums. I hope I'll get it to work - especially after spending a fortune in ink cartridges. If not, I will not be being another epson printer, and I hope you can avoid making the same mistake.

I've been using the Epson XP-400 Small-in-one printer for over a month. The copy and scan functions work well, the print function does not. First of all, on the printer's home display screen there are icons for "copy," "scan," etc., but not one for print. I don't know what icon should be highlighted in order to print so I leave it on "wi-fi setup." Second, when I want to print something from my computer, the printer gives these messages: "the printer is not connected," "looking for printer," and "unable to find printer," then after about 5 minutes it starts printing. What's up with that? Does anyone know because I don't have a clue.

Purchased this printer couple years ago, I don't use or do ALOT of printing, printer worked well for the 1st set of inks, but since I've replaced the inks this thing won't print anything correctly. I have cleaned the head, aligned pages ALL of the recommend troubleshoot stuff.. I'm only wasting money buying ink trying to get this POJ to print I've used 2 sets of ink up just trying to get it to print with NO SUCCESS ....Epson should recall and give every1 who owns one of these things a refund!!!

Worst Printer EVER

Honestly, I rarely take the time to review product, but I HAD to warn people about this printer. It truly is the worst printer I have ever owned. I don't do high quality printing.. I just wanted something reasonably priced to print my kids homework papers. I work with computers all day long.. I am pretty proficient with technology, but this printer?? I have not once, not ONCE been able to hit print for a simple Word Document and had it print without some kind of issue.

Going back to Canon

After several months, I am ready to go back to my Canon. I bought this printer for the wireless feature so I could print directly from my iPhone and iPads. Unfortunately, about 2 of 3 print requests lock up after printing 1/2 page. And to get it to work, I have to clear out the print job from both computer (or iPhone) and printer, shut off the printer and hope it works when I turn it back on. I thought I would love this based on size, capabilities and reviews, but it is extremely frustrating to wonder each time whether it will print. I am going to recycle my Canon.

Not very much ink in the cartridge

The printer itself is nice, it works well. The wireless printing is a nice feature. The INK however is AWFUL!!!! It runs out VERY fast. It is expensive to replace the ink cartridges, as often as it needs to be replaced is outrageous! I would NOT recommend this printer because the ink cartridge holds very little ink. The XL ink cartridge doesn't hold much more than the regular size. Ink itself doesn't cost much, so to skimp on the ink for the price you pay to replace them is ridiculous !!!

I bought the Epson XP-400 wireless printer last year as I wanted a wireless. I have not been able to print using this printer although new ink cartridges have been installed. It is absolutely useless to me.

Replaced 3 times..

At first I was in love with this printer...Once the ink had to be replaced, it seemed to go downhill. Did the maintenance, cleaning heads, nozzle check.. But even the test pages would not print properly. I had wound up replacing ink SO many times I could have bought a new printer. Even after replacing the ink, it never printed correctly. When under warranty, Epson replaced it. It worked fine for a month or 2 then same problem. I am on my third replacement as of today. I don't expect much to change. I am not one that prints a lot so it's not as if it got ran into the ground. I print maybe 5 -1 10 documents a month. There is probably a better printer out there for the money.
