Worse hungry printer ever! The ink dries up very fast. It needs new cartridges very frequently. By the time you have replaced all the cartridge, it start all over again. I have hardly use this printer because it.

Don't Waste Your Money

I installed the printer/scanner and right out of the box the black ink did not print. I cleaned the print head five or six times and it still did not print. I then replaced the black ink cartridge and repeated the above steps and it still does not print black. Tomorrow I am taking it back to the store where I purchased it.

Never Again!

I've owned many printers over the years, and this is the absolute worst that I've ever owned or used. I can't really think of a nice thing to say about it, except that maybe it looks decent. It's junk! I go through cartridges at a ridiculous rate just cleaning the nozzle heads every time I need to print. By the time the nozzles are cleaned so that it will print, I'm out of ink and still can't print! It's become totally useless to me. If this is the kind of quality that Epson produces, I'll never buy another thing of this brand.

HORRIBLE Product

Honestly: I wish I had paid more attention to the negative reviews on here before I purchased.
I have owned my Epson XP 400 now for a little over two years, and I have had only regret for purchasing this thing.
Other users are right - this piece of junk goes through ink at a rapid pace. I use my printer moderately, some weeks not needing a thing printed, some weeks maybe a few pages, sometimes maybe a bit more. But of all the printers I have owned, I have NEVER had one go through this much ink this quickly. It genuinely feels like a joke is being played on me every time the "Ink Low" notification pops up again.
And then, half the time there is some complication that makes it not print at all or print with such terrible quality that it has to be reprinted multiple times.
As I write this review, I have had to instruct the printer to "clean the heads" SIX times, and I am still getting blank lines running throughout my printed pages. I just installed full cartridges this afternoon, I have successfully printed nothing, and I have now been informed that the ink levels are yet again low. I will soon be making my second trip to the store today to purchase ink.
Isn't the printer usually the easy part of the computer? I have never had such a nightmare of a product, and I will NEVER buy another Epson product again.
If you take a chance and buy this junk, I wish you luck.

This Printer is Garbage

Printer worked great for about 2 months. I found that you have to replace ink frequently....which gets expensive. Also, after two months the printer would not print....tried cleaning the nozzles and the printer used up all of the ink...bought more ink and it will still not print.
I am giving 1 star because the scanner function works great.

You get what you pay for!

If I could give this piece of garbage printer no stars I would. I haven't used in at least 6 months because it's garbage and that's AFTER Epson sent me a replacement. I couldn't use it one time without the wireless connection not working (it sits NEXT TO my wireless modem)! I would get lines across the page and the ink runs out after about 10 print-outs. Along with tons of other problems with this printer. I could have called customer service 100 times and this piece of garbage wouldn't work. I'm never buying an Epson again!

stopped working

I am guessing and hope that the experience we had with our all in one is not the norm, but ours quit working properly after less than 1 year. Looking back now I feel like it went through ink faster than it should have. Now the black wont print at all. After being on the phone with customer service, they concluded there was a defect with the hardware. We have moved and had a third child since we purchased this printer. So we had a few other things going on, and just printed things in blue rather than black. Now we unfortunately are past the warranty and basically out of luck. If they cannot determine what is wrong and fix it cheaply at a service center, we will not buy an epson the next time.

No Epson Scan for Mac OS 10.6
on July 10, 2012
Posted by: Ed606
Epson's literature to the contrary, EPSON Scan is not available for OS 10.6, thus the only way to scan is through Image Capture--very clumsy. The scanner is not TWAIN-compliant with OS 10.6.
Users of other operating systems may find the scanning interface more robust.
