Poor print quality

I bought this to have a simple printer for home use. As soon as I printed a test page I knew there was a problem, so I did a nozzle check. Bad check even after 4 cleanings. Took it back and bought a Workforce 2540.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's to like?

After using the Epson Expression Home XP-400 Small-in-One Printer I was saddened that it would not let me print what I wanted to print the way I wanted to print it. This, for me, is its major fault. It is made to do simple printing the way it should be done. This is a plus. But, not what I wanted to do.
The XP-400 would not let me print out a copy of a photo in other than high quality. I like to print my photos in draft first to have a better idea of what it looks like before using up ink and good photo paper. When I checked 4x6 size to print, it automatically went into photo mode that couldn't be altered. I only wanted to know what the proportions looked like in that size on regular text paper. I didn't want to print a finished photo. Couldn't do it on paper. Didn't want to do it on screen.
I didn't find a way to print a photo on the bottom half of an 8.5x11" card horizonally so it would become the front of a card, opening top to bottom with space to write on the inside. Couldn't do it.
These types of prints may be able to be done. I couldn't figure out how. Instructions not included. They could have been included on the installation disk but were not.
I purchased it to upgrade my old non-Epson printer/scanner/copier because the Epson uses photo ink. I have gone back to using the old one.
I rated the Epson "not recommended" because it did not do what I expected it to do or wanted it to do. I was forced to rate it. I don't know how it will satisfy in a different situation. It might be the perfect printer for your needs.

print quality is not good

I have had my printer one year but used it a fewer times than would have produced poor quality print. I replaced all ink and tested over and over but cannot get good quality print. I would say this printer is of poor quality

It took about 20 minutes to get printer working. Set up was easy. Works very well. Ink is not too expensive. I am very happy.

I HAVE HAD THIS PARTICULAR PRINTER FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND IT HAS BEEN A VERY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. IT IS SIMPLE TO ADD PAPER AND ALIGN IT, SO THAT PRINTED MATERIAL COMES OUT STRAIGHT. CHANGING THE INK CARTRIDGES HAVE BEEN A RELATIVELY PAINLESS PROCESS. THE COPYING FEATURE OF THE PRINTER HAS BEEN EASILY ACCOMPLISHED. I CAN EASILY ADJUST PRINTING SIZE, ENLARGING OR MAKING SMALLER. I HAVE NOT USED THE SCAN FEATURE TOO OFTEN, BUT WOULD SAY THAT THIS IS A GOOD PRINTER TO HAVE AND WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO OTHERS.

Very good printer

Needed to get a scanner. I found this all in one for almost the same price as a scanner alone. It works great. I run it wireless and haven't had any problems. I like the program used to monitor the device on the desktop, but the same information is on the big screen on the printer itself. It is smaller so it fits in the space of my previous "printer only" . It is easy to operate and it was easy to setup. The copy is very good and the scanned document appears very accurate and clear on the computer for emailing.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have had nothing but issues with this printer from the day I bought it, paper feed don't work, wont print when I need it too, never again will I buy another Epson printer..
