I recently purchased this printer and selected it because it seemed to be a great value for the money and the ink cartridges are reasonably priced. After going through setup and initial use, I think I made a good decision. I'll be using the printer in my home office. I don't print large quantities (multiple copies or lots of documents longer than 12-15 pages), so the XP400 seems exactly right for my needs. I really like the easy-to-use control panel, but my favorite things about this printer are the size and light weight. Space in my office is at a premium and it fits perfectly on top of my deskside filing cabinet. I have printing, scanning, and copying at my fingertips. And I can carry/move it easily when I rearrange the office furniture. I wish the illustrations in the Start Here guide had been a bit more detailed (and larger) and the instructions had been a bit more detailed. Nevertheless, setting up my printer went smoothly. Instead of using the CD for installation, I went to the Epson website and downloaded drivers and utilities and I'd suggest that route. I elected to connect to my computer through a USB cable and that was easy, too. Overall, I give this little printer a 4 out of 5 for setup and installation and 5 out of 5 for overall use and features. If you want a good, easy-to-use printer that's a good value for your home office, I'd recommend the XP400.

XP-400 Small in One

I am not very happy with the printer right now. It may be something I am doing wrong, or I just haven't got the printer set up correctly. When I hit Ctrl P to print, I get the box on the right hand side of the screen showing the printer. I select the printer and get another screen showing the number of copies, size,color ect. I hit print and nothing happens. I rechecked the printer selection and notice it says offline. How do I get it on line?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It is very noisy when the paper goes down.And the paper does not go down straight; it is slanted to one side. Also ,it prints very slowly
I like the small compact size.

Paper and printing

But the paper slips and moves on the
left side when the printer starts to print. The printer needs a side bar
to keep the paper straight when it is

Works beautifully, has a lot of features. Printing basic text its quick, printing pictures it is slow but the quality is there.
