Won't print black after sample cart runs out

This is my third Epsom won't buy another
Tech support couldn't help, read 100's of reviews with same issue
Replaced ink cartridge and won't print black in a document performed clean and alignment procedure and tried two new black cartridge no help

Purchased 11/13. 2/14 printer showing "paper jam" error. no paper in printer, never had a printer jam. Tried to reset to defaults. Could not because of "paper jam"

very bad decision

the ease of use for the first set up was wonderful. All went well until the black ink cartridge runs out. Bought a new cartridge, installed it...still no black ink, cleaned the nozzles charged the ink, did all of the printer maintenance....still nothing. the other ink cartridges were not empty but running low, I thought maybe all of them needs replaced (ridiculously pricey but whatever) bought new ink cartridges, even a new black one. did the whole maintenance ritual again. all other colors printed, NO BLACK. now im not happy. I got 3 months worth of printing. paid more in replacement ink than i paid for the printer...still cannot print. this printer product is worthless

Hate this printer!

This printer has been a constant pain. Almost every time I use it I have to clean the print heads, check the nozzle, re-align, etc etc.
It either has stripes or the black doesn't print well. AND to top it all off it runs out of ink REALLY fast. Plus the photo quality is mediocre.

Epson XP 400 review

I purchased the Epson XP-400 to use for work and home related projects. At the time I was not planning on using it that often since I do not need to print much for work. Well it became my daily use for home related projects more than work, kids school projects , my couponing. During this experience I found that even with the XL ink cartridges my ink runs out way too fast. The printer can print fast enough but for what I am doing larger projects its not fast enough. Also I don't like the fact that it cannot auto feed paper into the copier part of the printer, I wish I had of thought of that from the beginning. However I did not want to spend a lot and for the price I paid I did get my monies worth. So in all I would say my biggest issue with the printer is the cost of the ink cartridges, also the fact they run out way too fast. I would however recommend for small home projects or just for reports for kids.

Printing Costs

The ink cartridges do not contain enough ink for high volume printing such as large photographs. You will spend too much time going to the store or ordering color ink. The printer is reasonably fast and fine for hard copies of emails and such or letters. The head is prone to clogging if the printer is not used regularly. It would be nice to have a set of "cleaning cartridges" filled with alcohol or compatible with head cleaner, with an absorption pad, so you could completely clean the heads without wasting ink. I print card models to build for children in the hospital. These are color ink intensive and the costs with this printer are relatively high when compared to large capacity cartridge versions when considering my time and travel to the store costs.

ink runs out quick

I Brought this printer because it was affordable, but the only thing about it that it works good but like I said it runs out of ink to fast in a short period of time. how can I get a solution for this printer..

Just took me two hours to get 4 pages printed with ALL NEW INK installed ...cleaned ... and played with again.
NEVER ...EVER WILL I PURCHASE ANOTHER EPSON PRODUCT. Been too expensive to operate.
INK is the KEY ...where they MAKE THE MONEY.
Not the machine. I will carefully research and get the CHEAPEST to operate printer / copier and BET it is not an EPSON. * BRAND NEW BLACK INK CARTRIGE SHOWED LOW ON INK 5 MINS AFTER INSTALLATION. REMOVED FROM THE AIR TIGHT SEALED FACTORY PACKAGING TOO. NOT LAYING AROUND ...
