Replaced xp-300

I purchased the XP-400 as a replacement for my XP-300, which my grandchildren had decided would make a great place to store beads. I really like the ease of set up. I am 67 years young and did all the set up myself. The advantage of being wireless means no more going to the desktop to do any printing.

XP400-- decent but problems

I know my review of this printer might not be fair since I don't print a lot, but i have had issues with this printer. I mainly print to it with my IPad and most times when I go to get the document off the printer it is blank...... I don't print with it that often so the ink nozzles might get dried out over time as it will usually work good after I run the nozzle cleaning. The problem is I never know if it will print till after I have sent the document or web page to the printer and go get it later after I am off what I wanted to print only to find out that the paper is pretty much blank. There is some ink on the paper, only enuf for me to know that I printed something. If I used this printer more often it could very well be an excellent printer, but .....
My rating about if I would recommend to a friend could be unfair for the above reasons.

Very pleased with our XP-400. It was relatively easy to get connected on our home wi-fi, 2 desk-tops a laptop and an ipad all share printing. The copy function is always ready, plus it's a pretty good looking device. Envelopes and heavy paper don't seem to slow it down either. The cost of the ink cartridge is about 1/2 what we paid for our previous printer cartridges.

love the size and color commands. the speed of the b&w printer is excellant. haven t tried to print a photo yet. it is far superior to my r300 for my needs. the copier is easy to use and I turned in my scanner saving my space.

This all-in-one is awesome! It's my best printer yet. Lovin' the wireless thing and the LCD menu.

My 9 yr old son has Autism and uses an I-Pad to help with his homework. I purchased this printer for him to use with the I-Pad and have no regrets. This printer has good quality printing and links up well with his I-Pad. The scanner was easy for him to figure out and makes good copies. I can not tell how this will be on ink usage yet but for ease of use for my son it is a keeper.

I have been using the Epson Expression Home XP-400 Small-in-One™ All-in-One Printer for over 6 months and so far it has never failed.
Pros:
Easy installation.
Easy to replace ink cartridges.
Low profile, space saver.
Decent print speed.
No jams.
It gets from OFF status to ready and on-line in less than 15 seconds.
Works perfect with Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
And the best: It is a very affordable unit.
Cons:
The scanner works fine but it is a little bit slow compared to the Epson Perfection V2000. Double sided scanning on-line is manual. If you want to use this feature you need to connect via USB.
Summary:
Excellent printer if you are not too concerned about scanning speed.

Bought the XP-400 for a small office. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but does just what I wanted it for and at the price I wanted to spend. Would be great for a student or apartment too.
