Do NOT buy this Printer!!!!

This printer does not print properly. It skips lines or the print is faded. I went and bought new ink and it's still doing the same thing. I was stupid to buy 2 and both of the printers have the same issue. It has a troubleshoot selection that self cleans, I chose that option 4 times already and it did self clean but it still skis lines or it fades out. I am not happy with this printer at all.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Buy something else. Ink runs out fast.

I have very light printing needs. Every six months I have something that needs printing, and every six months there's a problem. Maybe the ink is dry, maybe the ink has run out, maybe the heads need cleaning.
I'm spending dollars per page on printing. If you're not printing daily, this is a terrible product.

Disappointment turns to satisfaction

When I got my initial purchase of the XP-400 it was a disaster. After two days of trying everything in the book the printed page came out with what appeared to be double striking making it unreadable. A call to Epson help desk could not solve the problem. They finally sent me a replacement at no charge, this worked perfectly right out of the box. Kudos to Epson help desk. The printer/scanner/copier turned out to be a great value for the money. One caveat, no printer cable included with the package. If it is a first purchase this is an inconvenience.

We bought our Epson 400 printer in August 2014. The first one didn’t print correctly after doing all the set-up and cleaning processes, so we returned it. Set-up the second printer and it printed a little better than the previous but still not correctly. We’ve given it months to see if it just needed to be broken in. It still skips lines in documents, smudges, and leaves lines in pictures. Cleaning the nozzle and re-aligning it before every printing helps a little but not much. The printer is also incredibly slow for such low quality printing. One plus: the scanner is great. Can be slow, but scans so clearly that photos can be blown-up without losing much quality. The printer had over 300 positive reviews on the store website, but it did not meet those expectations.

Gotta have a Network or Router to use this

The information on the box doesn't specifically tell you, but you must have a router or a home network to set up this product. The box only says wifi. That is a little short on information.

The worst printer

Don't be fooled by this printers low price. You will pay for it over and over again with the cartridges, that barely last through a full print job. The quality of the prints is poor, and the printer struggles to print on anything other than typical thin office paper. It jams on any medium or heavy weight paper. The "draft" mode will essentially skip every line of text, and your must print on "high quality" to get anything legible.
