I bought this for our motorhome because of the size and wireless. It does a great job of scanning and printing. I've not printed out photos but the text print outs are crisp and clear. Quick to print! I love that each ink has it's own cart. This can save you money in the long run!
All in all it's a great little printer. I do own other Epson printers and love them all.

Just a great little printer!

I went shopping for a printer that would satisfy 3 of my top priorities... wireless, can scan documents and has a small footprint. This printer really stood out from the others. I love how compact it is. I was amazed at how easy and fast the setup was. And NO cables! I am very pleased with the scanning features and the amount of control it gives me. It is a big plus that I can save my scans as PDF's. I have been using this printer for about 7 months now without any problems until about a week ago. It begin printing with bands of missing text. That alarmed me at first, but it was purring again in no time. I just went to the maintenace area of the print dialog and ran a "clean print head" sequence. Problem solved. I use this printer with my laptop running Windows 7. I just purchased a desktop computer running Windows 8. Short of simply typing my network and homegroup passwords - I had to do nary a THING before I was printing from my new desktop computer. SWEET! I really can't speak to the color printing capabilities of this printer as I do not do a lot. The few 4x6 color photographs I do from time to time I would rate as very good. Some I even give a Wow. This printer may not be your best bet if you do serious color work and want very high quality color prints. It certainly is a first choice if you just need a reliable, easy to use printer for your day to day print chores.

I am using this printer in my home office, and it does everything that I expected - prints, scans, and makes photocopies. ;) Printing over wifi was easy to setup. The only negative is that the black ink seems to be running out quickly, but I cannot really compare this to any other printer - so it is just a feeling.

Overall, the XP-400 is an excellent printer; however, there are problems when selecting the copy option. For those who are not technically savvy, finding the correct buttons to push can be somewhat of a challenge.

Everything technology should be

I dread it when I get a new technology product. For days I stew and brew until I work up the confidence to install. And I am in information technology. By far, by so far it can't be compared, this product was the easiest technology to install, configure and setup. I have every expectation that its use will prove to be the same.

The printer work very well. Clear, clean copies with very few jams. The feature I am most dissatisfied with, is the EPSON Scan. It does not give the ability to scan from a word type document into a Word or Rich Text type document. I have not found a reliable “*.pdf” converter to Word type documents.

I like the compactness and the ease of operation. The only negative I experienced was the power cord which fits very loosely and falls out easily.
