Not Very Good

1. Difficult & slow to set up ... I had to call Epson support ... finally got it working ... BUT NOT with wireless.
2. It doesn't remember preferences ... even printing the same document a second time I have to check/reset everything.
3. On photos I see recurring fine lines 0.8 cm apart. Support said it was the paper ... I got some Epson matte paper and the lines are still there.
4 . Why does the printer defult toA$ paper? Did I get one intended for Europ?
5. ??? why set paper size in hundredth's of an inch ???
I'll give the printer another week to settle down

Easy

Easy to set up (I'm not a very Tec savvy person) Easy to program and change ink cartridges. Ink seems to last a long time compared to the printer I used to have. Great quality print on pictures. Over all a great product for a small price.

XP-400

The XP-400 is a nice small eye appealing unit,
which is easy to set up and use. The printing
quality is outstanding for such a small printer.
Great for personal use and real easy access
printing off the internet.

It took a while to get it set up, I guess I had some bad usb ports, when the ports are not good, the printing only works sporatically. Other wise, the machine is good, it does use a lot of ink, and the cartridges are expensive.

Poor Scans
on March 25, 2013

We bought the printer for the purpose of scanning printed photographs. The printer worked well for the first 23 scans after that all the scans were sideways which is unacceptable for anything we would use the them for.
The other features, such as printing and wireless connection to computers works but my confidence in there longevity is low.

I will start with the positives. The print quality is very good, I have no complaints there. The setup was very easy and our wireless connection is great. But the printer itself is very noisey, and I feel it uses ink at a rather rapid rate.

A fine multi-function printer

I've been using the XP-400 for about six months and am very pleased with it. It replaces my old printer, also an Epson, which worked flawlessly for over five years (without heavy use).
On the XP-400 the print, copy, and scan functions all work well and produce good results. We haven't printed on photo paper yet, but clarity and color balance are quite OK on regular paper. My wife has had to do a fair amount of scanning and is very pleased with the scans she's gotten.
The only slight negative is that ink from Epson is pretty expensive, and for some reason third-party cartridges are harder to find for this model than for many other Epson models.
