Works Fine But Getting Ice Around Freezer Light Switch

We purchased at the end of August, and have no real issues so far, and happy with the performance. The only thing we notice is that frost/ice is building up around the switch in the refrigerator which is activated when opening/closing the freezer door, so the freezer light never works. We spoke with the appliance store, and they recommended that we melt the ice, dry it off and then check to see if the problem persists. We still see the issue. The doors have a good seal, and warm air does not appear to be getting in. The thought was that the door was left open, but that is not the case. I did not see any mention of this issue online or in user guide. Would like a recommendation from Kitchen Aid, and will speak with appliance store rep.

I can't believe how much I am enjoying this refrigerator. I thought the convenience of a bottom freezer would be wonderful and it is. The drawer easily glides out and there is a lot of space for frozen foods. The side by side doors are new to me but they even have room for gallon jugs. These two doors give you a wide view of the refrigerator contents and with the freezer at the bottom the eye level view is so convenient. This refrigerator even alarms if you should happen to leave the door ajar, this has been needed by me several times.

The design of the fridge is very good. Lots of storage and easy access. I love the split shelf and the cubbies on the doors are excellent. However, the freezer didn't seal properly and we had icicles inside the drawer. A repairman came and applied silicone sealant to where the drawer joins the unit because he believed there was an air leak at that point. He was going to replace the seal but when he took the new one out of the box it was so mangled it was useless. We waited a day or two to see if the sealant solved the problem but it didn't. Everything in the freezer was covered in frost. They have ordered a new door for the freezer but we likely won't have it before Christmas (4-6 weeks they've said) so every time I need something from the freezer, I have to go to the older freezer in the basement.

The KRFF305ESS00 Kitchenaid French Door Refrigerator is the best designed refrigerator our family has owned in almost 40 years. The 25 cubic foot provides massive storage of all fresh and frozen foods. The water dispenser on the inside is far better than the outside where water would drip down the stainless steel drawer. The pull out bottom drawer freezer section allows for easy access and viewing of all frozen items. The ice-cube make is excellent and allow for easy removal of cubes for parties. I would highly recommend this fridge to all consumers; especially those with families or couples putting on numerous parties.
