The Thermal Carafe is amazing. It keeps the coffee hot for 4+ hours. The typical heating element at the base of a carafe tends to keep cooking the coffee. The one negative with the Coffee Maker is the "blooming" process makes a mess in the grounds/filter holder; which makes it difficult to remove the filter/grounds into a trash can and requires a rinsing in the kitchen sink each time.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bad coffee

I bought this coffee pot and for the first six mo. it worked fine now it gives you such a after taste we have done everything to cleaning it out over and over to changing the coffee & filters and no matter what we do we still have that after taste, our daughter-in-law has had the same problem, she got another one, will have to get another kind, have used Mr. Coffee a lot this is the first time it is undrinkable!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Simple and Easy to Use

Just received the Optimal Brew and I love it. The previous maker (a Ke****) failed after 18 months. The second one that I had owned. I agree that storing water in a container is asking for issues, such as mold. Better using fresh filtered water for every day use.

I bought this for my dad he is a big coffee drinker. Coffee is his water he is never without. His old coffee pot was similar to this model and same brand which he loved and when it broke after many years of perfect performance he had a hard time finding a new one like it. My older sister bought him one that was similiar but not Mr. Coffee brand it lasted 3 months and croked he was really dissapointed,. I found this one and sent it to him for fathers day. Score!!! It works perfect and still performing and makes coffee in a flash its good to see there are still great products out there.

The thermal carafe is nice to take out on the deck plus we are not using electricity to keep the coffee warm. The box stated 2 hours I think but it stays warm I would say 4 hours. Also the coffee taste fresher because it is not evaporating off by using a heating element to keep it warm.
All in all, it has form and function.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Awful design

This pot is great in that it brews coffee very quickly. I have it one star because there is a steam vent in the back that releases a bunch of steam and it ruined the paint on the underside and front door of my upper cabinets. Do not use this pot under cabinets due to the large amount of steam released. I’ll be buying a regular slow brewing pot for my new house.

I had purchased the 10 cup for my mom as a gift the coffee pot is amazing so I got myself the 12 cup pot. The features are different, it spit water out the side where the coffee ground go and it does not stay as hot as the 10 cup. I think because it has this full feature thing on it that is useless.

Thermal coffee pot keeps coffee hotter much longer without the hot plate making spills easier to clean up and not as destructive. This is my fourth Mr Coffee maker in over 40 years. We wrecked one with an accidental spill. This brand has a good longevity record for us and makes the best coffee, if like us you like the old fashion brew.
