Tastes like water

I bought this iced tea maker less than a month ago. It works OK, but even though I put the brew strength on the strongest setting, the tea tastes like water. I even use 8 tea bags, but it doesn't matter. Rather make it myself.

Thanks for contacting Mr. Coffee®! We appreciate you bringing this up to our attention regarding our Mr. Coffee® Tea Cafe Iced Tea Maker, 2.5-Qt. For a better tasting Iced Tea, the standard ratio is usually about 1 teaspoon of tea leaves to 1 cup of water. We hope this helps.

Am I missing something?

This brews fine, but like others have said, the glass pitcher is very thin. What bothers me is the hole in top of the pitcher lid. Is there something that was supposed to plug in the hole after brewing? Maybe I accidently threw it away? I stuff a paper towel wad in the top to keep smells from other foods in the refrigerator from contaminating the tea. It just looks very tacky with a paper towel sticking out

Thank you for reaching Mr. Coffee® Brand. Your feedback is important to us, and it helps us to continuously improve our products and services. The hole was meant for the liquid way through the pitcher and there should not be any part to attach. Have a great day!

I’ve had this for less than a year and the pitcher broke while I was stirring the tea. Sweet tea and glass went everywhere.

I enjoyed the tea maker. My only complaint is that my pitcher is broken now. I am disappointed at the pitcher is gone and I have no way to fit something else in the place of the pitcher. I hope there is a way to get a replacement for the pitcher with out buying the entire unit.

Terrible design for the pitcher

I really wanted another Mr. Coffee 3 quart iced tea maker for my camper. I’ve had nothing but good luck with my last one and the tea tasted amazing. However, they no longer make it. So I thought I would try this one. I’ve only used it a few times but I can already tell that I am extremely disappointed in it. Based on other people’s review, I could see how it would be easy for the pitcher to crack because it is so thin and fragile. Because it’s so thin, the ice inside the pitcher melts quickly. With my other plastic 3 quart pitcher, ice will stay in the pitcher for several days after brewing the tea. I am going to assume they didn’t make the pitcher thicker because they didn’t want to make the pitcher too heavy. Just can’t help to think the designers of the pitcher couldn’t have come up with a different like glass material to make it more durable.
Another thing that I don’t like about it is the fact that it’s a 2.5 quart pitcher. Most tea bags that I use makes tea in 1 quart increments. So, I am trying to adjust the strength setting, the number of tea bags that I use, or the amount of ice that I use so the tea isn’t too weak or too strong. I wish the pitcher was either a 2 or a 3 quart pitcher, not a 2.5 pitcher or It would have had the markings on the pitcher for the different increments.
The last complaint that I have is the lid. It doesn’t seal worth a darn. When I put the lid on, it’s a little loose. I have to hold the lid on when I am poring the tea into a glass because I am afraid the lid will fall off. The lid also has a hole in the top for the brewing process, which I completely understand. However, it’s not sealed completely, which can leave it with a weird taste after a couple of days of sitting into the refrigerator. I’ve never had any problems with the plastic 3 quart pitcher because it seals a lot better.
I am thinking about returning it back to Walmart and getting a different brand. It’s not worth the money that I spent on it. I really don’t want to because based on my past experience, I know that the Mr. Coffee makes really good tea. The whole set up looks really nice. I like how they have a max line on the water reservoir. It makes it really convenient when filling the Mr. Coffee with water. I know Mr. Coffee can do so much better than this.

I have had this Iced Tea Maker for years and it works great. The pitcher’s glass is fragile, but I have not had any issues with it breaking. The machine itself makes great tea!

I had the older plastic picture for 10 plus years. Now that I have read the reviews and see how cheaply made the glass and flimsy the lid is I will will have to search other brands. Sorry Mr. Coffee. Sad that companies are all about making money but have poor quality products.

Thank you for contacting the Mr. Coffee® Brand. We appreciate your time and effort for bringing this to our attention. We are sorry to hear that the Mr. Coffee®Tea Cafe Iced Tea Maker did not exceed your expectations. This is certainly not the experience we want you to have. No worries, we are here to help.
If your iced tea maker is not turning on, it might be because the unit is not getting enough power from the wall outlet where it is currently plugged in or the wall outlet itself is a non working outlet. To remedy this issue, check if there is no physical damage on its cord and if there's none, try unplugging the iced tea maker and let it rest for 3-5 minutes. Plug the unit into a different wall outlet and see if it will work. Do not use it with any extension cords, power strips and power converters or inverters as it may affect the iced tea maker's performance.
