Great tea maker, terrible glass container

A Christmas gift from my son and daughter in law. Upon opening the gift my first thought was "I sure hope that isn't really glass". I should have exchanged it for one wth a plastic container. The bottom cracked. I don't even know when it happened. So disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this over a year ago and I use it every day! I love the ease of brewing with this model- I have owned all other models sold by Mr. Coffee- so I am familiar with- My only issue is with the glass carafe- which is beautiful for serving guests, but not practical for dropping ice in, as per other reviews, it is subject to cracking- SO, I never use it to brew- I use my sturdy clear plastic pitcher from my previous Mr. Coffee, the one with the blue top- AND I have no problems! This way, I get the flexibility to brew strong tea, in easy-to-do task, and, I really love the swing out arm!
Ok, so in honesty, I have to add, that my husband was helping me clean up one day and he accidentally threw the filter basket away, so now I use white coffee filters to brew.
So, Mr. Coffee, two requests: 1) Sell this model with optional plastic pitcher, and, 2), Sell a replacement filter basket, and make it another color, so it stands out and doesn't go in the trash with the used tea bags!
Thank You very much, Everyone, enjoy your iced tea daily! So healthy and delicious! (I put mine in a stainless steel Tervis and it is always fresh and cold at work!)

Lasted for three pitchers

The design is awkward, takin up more space than small kitchens allow. Today I wanted to make a mew batch of tea, my fourth on the machine, and it won't power on. The excellent troubleshooting section of the manual told me that I either didn't have it plugged in or had a power outage. Top notch troubleshooting there.
As others have mentioned, the pitcher is extremely thin. I was worried about breakage when using it. The lid also does not fit snuggly, while pouring tea it comes loose.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I BOUGHT THIS ICE TEA MAKER TO REPLACE ANOTHER MR COFFEE ICE TEA MAKER I HAD FOR YEARS. THE ACTUALLY MACHINE WORKS GREAT BUT THE PITCHER BROKE AFTER 2 WEEKS WHEN I WAS PUTTING ICE INTO THE PITCHER. PITCHER REVIEWS ARE RIGHT ON TARGET....POOR QUALITY.

This tea maker is awesome, reliable, easy to use and leaves no messes. I especially like that the tea drips into the top of the carafe unlike our old tea maker that required the spout of the pitcher to be pushed against the machine to catch the brewed tea. That always made a mess. But with this model, we have no problems at all. We recommend it highly.

It works well. I love it. The reviews noting the glass pitcher breaks easy is true I had mine about 6 months when my husband broke it. We just bought a whole second machine rather than just a pitcher since we liked it overall
