Loved it so much I bought another - but bad colors

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got a new MacBook Pro with Touchbar in late 2016 and treated myself to this display to accompany it. I loved everything about it - bright, vivid colors, crisp details, one-cable charging/output, easy menus. I decided to buy a second identical one two years later. I would have given it five stars until the second one arrived.
Unfortunately, the second one immediately had an issue with its coloring, with both displays set to factory default settings. I do not professionally edit photos or videos, but even simple tasks are distracting when the new display has an obvious yellow tint and the old one is a perfect white on web pages or documents.
Making matters worse, my new one is still under warranty, and I have now returned it to LG twice for repair or replacement. Both times, after going through the effort of shipping my monitor, being without it for two weeks each time, and reconnecting it two two different computers (a Dell Latitude from work as well as my MacBook Pro), the same display flaw occurred. I am nearing the point of giving up. So I'd give the original display five stars, and give the newer display one star, averaging out to three stars.
I have read horror stories about LG service, and I am basically living it. The second time I sent it in, the support rep said that they would probably just replace it - but they did not, they just replaced a different part than they replaced the first time. I don't see how such a visually obvious coloration flaw can pass their quality/calibration checks.

OnScreen Control

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hey, love the monitor overall - but the OnScreen control software is really slow when you need to bring out the menu to change screen splitting. The setting is reset every time I have removed my Macbook, so I need to do this quite often, and sometimes it takes a LOT of time to even get the menu to show. An update of this software would be very nice!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to go along with my new late 2016 MBP with usb-c. It does charge after the 10.12.2 update. Albeit, very slow but I don't care. One cable life rocks!
I do wish the USB was 3.1, but I can live with it 3.0 for what I needed.
Sound works as well.

Good image, poor extra features

Using it with a 2015 Macbook pro. I'm very happy with the screen itself, which is (up to now) faultless. Now the additional features are rather poor. There isn't much of them (no SD card reader, no webcam), and those present are badly executed. There are only 2 USB ports, are not accessible from the front, and most annoyingly, the USB hub is powered down each time the monitor sleeps, which means brutal disconnection of your external drives if you happen to have some. A firmware update should absolutely take care of this because it is dangerous to your data and makes the integrated hub useless (right now it's neither for mobile media --unaccessible-- nor for fixed peripherals --hard power off).
Pros: Quality

4K that works great out of the box

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I brought this monitor home expecting to have to do the usual configuration to get the resolution to 4k at 60Hz, but everything booted up at the proper resolution the first time. My monitor is connected to an HP Spectre x360 15.6".
Pros: Performance
I would recommend this to a friend!

Junk, Won't Wake Up

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this back in late December for my new Apple MBP w/ Touchbar. This monitor has been a nightmare: won't wake up from sleep, you can hear static discharge from the USB-C cable when you unplug it, flickering, turns off (or on) at strange times, self-adjusting brightness that always fails to please.
Do yourself a favor and buy something else. All that said, great picture when it chooses to work! About 10% of the time!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Does not display video and charge at same time
on October 31, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have the new MacBook Pro with USB-C and it will NOT CHARGE the laptop even though it is advertised to "Display 4K video, transfer data and charge a laptop or mobile device, all at the same time using a single cable with USB-C".
