We have enjoyed our Vitamix for many years. Each morning I prepare breakfast for my wife and myself in our 64oz container and we love it. However, for smaller mixings we thought that it would be good to have a smaller container. We felt that the 48oz would do the job so we ordered it. Unfortunately, we found it to be unbalanced and clumsy to handle. We therefore returned it in exchange for the 32oz container which is perfect. I believe that the sole purpose of the 48oz is to fit under the cupboards of most counter tops which I find unnecessary as you can easily leave the base unit on the counter and store the container(s) in a cupboard. This review of 1 star is for the 48oz container only. Overall our Vitamix is a great product and deserves a 5 star rating.

Container is Cloudy and looks gross all the time

The container is awful. It scratches and looks cloudy very quickly. I follow all the cleaning instructions and the container looks horrible. There needs to be a fix to that and a container made that could be for both dry and wet ingredients versus purchasing 2.

All of our containers are made of BPA Free Tritan which, though sturdy enough to handle high-powered blending, can become marred or scratched by blending dry ingredients! This will not impact the performance of your product in any way. If your container has developed a cloudy build up, we can provide you with some cleaning tips to clear that up if you can email us directly at service@vitamix.com!

I love my Vitamix blender, but do not like using a plastic container. It is not good for the environment and is easily damaged. Plus, Vitamix just charges way too much for it. It is nice to have the lower profile, wider container, rather than the taller one.
When this machine bites the dust, I will be moving on to another brand. (Of course, if Vitamix decides to switch to glass and make their products more reasonably priced, they will have me for life.)

I purchase this for smoothies because it appeared that the product would not get stuck along sides while permitting air to funnel down and therafter not mix well. This does not function as proposed and I might have well just used my taller container..........Sorry
