Battery life MUCH less than expected

For the most part, I like my Galaxy s5; however, I don't "love" it like so many of my friends told me that I would. The main reason I upgraded was because of the less than adequate battery life of my last phone. Since that phone does not have a separate battery, my only option there was to have an external battery pack. I heard many good things about the Galaxy s5's battery life, so I upgraded. The sad fact is, the battery life is worse than my 4 year old iPhone. I use my phone mostly for the GPS tracking for walking/hiking and also streaming music. My iPhone barely lasted a 5 mile hike and the Galaxy is actually worse. I have to make sure that I have a full charge before I leave and even then I get a low battery warning before I am done. I purchased an extra battery for longer excursions. I would have thought (I hoped anyway), that this brand new phone would last much longer.
On days that I'm not walking or hiking (just normal use), I have to recharge the battery at least once a day. If it's fully charged in the morning, it will be at about 20% by evening. This is only using the phone for minimal texting and maybe a 5 minute phone call. No, not what I had hoped for at all.
I did try some of the "power saving" tips, but most of them required shutting off features that I use.
I do like the size (and the fact that I can change the battery, unlike iPhones) and will keep the phone, but as far as recommending it to people that use their phone similar to the way I do, no. Sorry.

Cons: Did not meet expectations, low battery life

This phone is one of the best i have because is light. And the quality of the pictures and videos make this phone superior to the other ones. And other thing i like it samsung galaxy s5 has his own apps .

I've always been a fan of Samsung. I have a TV and the Tab 3 and also had the S3. I'm in love with all the features in this phone. The finger print scanner keeps everyone out of my phone. The picture quality is amazing, and way better than the iPhone. Keep up the great work Samsung!!!!!

I got a new new galaxy 5 thought it was great so when the note 4 came out I thought I would like it more but nope I want my galaxy 5 back

I hate this phone

I am a iphone user going to a android phone...i hate android...i fell for the android hype and gave in and purchased the galaxy 5....i love the big display but thats all. its so hard to navigate and i just ended up downloading the ios8 app so i can pretend i have my iphone back.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color
Cons: Poor quality, Not high def, Too big, Did not meet expectations

I was an iPhone user, then switched to galaxy s4 mini fell in Love and upgraded to S5.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, user friendly

Will never purchase a Samsung device again. Every Samsung I have ever owned has had serious issues including this one. Will not recommend it to anyone.

I especially like being able to carry my phone in my pocket and have it track my activity and let me know my steps. I'm especially impressed that it measures pulse and stress.
Pros: Bright display, Built-in speakers, Lightweight
Cons: i accidentally erased my contact list.
