I'm a Verizon store manager, so I know phones. I was also an iPhone user for the last 5 years (most recently the iPhone 5S). Having the chance to play with the new Galaxy S5 before it's launch, I was hooked. Amazing battery life, water resistance (at a Samsung Galaxy 5 launch event I watched this phone play a YouTube video under water!), the S Health features, Privacy & Kids modes, camera quality. Don't get me started with Smart Switch! This feature made, my transition from my iPhone to my Galaxy a breeze! The Ultra Battery Saving mode... wow. Love my phone & I sell this device more than any other. Notice I call it a device & not a phone? This is so much more than a phone. If you are on the fence.... just jump in, trust me
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, superior battery life, kids & privacy modes make this 3 phones in 1
I would recommend this to a friend!

Lost In Ocean, Over an Hour, Found it, Still Works.

Basically the title already explains it. I am on my family vacation and I had my phone in my swimsuit. I'm only 17, so I guess I could say I'm still a little unresponsible. I was at the beach for almost all day, lost my phone about 50 yards out into the ocean. With only a regular rubber case. I dont have a lifeproof case. I never realized until I came to the shore that I lost my phone. So instinctively I thought I left it in the car or it was in my towel, and it was no where to be found. I knew I had lost it in the ocean. It had been an hour by then. So my sister called it and it still rang so it had to still be working. I went out in the ocean and sifted through the sand for about a half an hour with my feet, randomly finding some goggles and a pair of sunglasses along the way, and with the odds against me, some how I was able to find my phone. Pulled it out of the ocean and unlocked it using the fingerprint scanner unlocking system, which also works incredibly, and it still worked. My screen was fine and looked as if I just left it there on the beach all day. The only thing that was troubled was the headphone jack, but with about an hour of just letting it air dry and removing the little sand from behind the case, the battery and the memory card were never harmed. My charger works great, and after the headphone jack dried it did too. So it's safe to say that this is the best phone I've ever had. It's waterproof, and has a ridiculously long battery life. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is worth every penny, and I recommend it for anyone looking for the best phone on the market. I will be sticking with Samsung for my phone provider for now on. Incredible work done on this phone.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight

A Great Improvement and Worthy Successor to the S4

Let me be clear, the two things I value most when it comes to a cell phone is battery life and talk time. Because first and foremost I use this as a phone for emergencies, memories, business transactions, and random conversations. I want to hear the person I'm talking to clearly and I want to be able to be away from my charger for at least a day. I am happy to report that this phone suceeds in all of those categories. One of my favorite features is Ultra Power Mode where it drops off all unnecessary features to keep your phone ready in an emergency if there is no charger nearby. If worse comes to worse, because the battery can be replaced, an extended battery can be added for extremely long battery life. The sound for calls and sounds played through the external speaker sound better and more powerful than they did on the S4. There are also more volume steps, up and down, for in-call volume and a new feature called "Extra Volume" that I imagine boosts the volume past top volume for truly loud environments.
The other features to me, while secondary, are excellent as well. I love the new fingerprint scanner for locking my phone (see protip at the bottom) and the fact that it can secure pictures in your gallery that are only viewable after you've swiped your finger. It also can be done in a one-handed fashion by swiping your thumb at an angle holding your phone like you normally would. I don't trust it enough to allow it to integrate with Paypal, but I'll let it secure the content on my device. The exercise features, such as the heart rate monitor and the pedometer, work very well and I've enjoyed using them. I feel the heartbeat sensor is more finnicky than the pedometer, but if you place your finger gently and evenly over the whole sensor it seems to work fairly consistently.
For the safety concious there is now a built-in emergency mode that after setting it up you hit the power button 3 times it will automatically start recording front and rear cameras, blast your GPS position to your top contacts, and ultimately give piece of mind if walking alone. This is a great feature and something that would serve people well in an emergency.
There are a lot of new features that I didn't mention that make the phone great, like the fact that I doubt dropping it anywhere but off a cliff would hurt it, but the things I mentioned were important for me and for my family. I am extremely pleased with my purchase and I would buy another S5 if I lost this one for any reason. I hope this helps a few decide to pick up this phone because it is excellent and built very well.
Protip: The fingerprint scanner can be spoofed by the fingerprint smudges on your screen if your phone is stolen. A more secure use of the fingerprint scanner is to scan a finger that doesn't touch the phone from each hand. That way the print is never left on the screen and no matter which hand you hold your phone with you can unlock it with the other hand. It will hold 3 fingerprints so be creative!
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, reliable, long battery life, excellent sound, safety features built-in, excellent improvements to touchwiz

Digging the upgrades

I've had this new phone for a week, (upgraded from the S4). So far I am impressed with the increased battery life and the quality of the camera/video. I was a little disappointed to find that it is still limited in color, and they don't offer a wide array of colors in the protective covers, but that is a minor inconvenience compared to the improvements. I highly recommend this product.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable
Cons: lack of color choices
