Exploded!!!

I love cooking in my huge crockpot. Last night it exploded all over my husband. Scared us. It overheated and the entire bottom separated from the crockpot. Very disappointed.

Greatest Slow Cooker I've Ever Owned

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this slow cooker (8 quart) almost two months ago as a replacement for one that was dying. It is larger than the one I was replacing (6 quart) and I LOVE IT!!! I make a lot of soups and stews and chili and such in the New England winter months, and it is just the right size. Now I only have to use one slow cooker instead of a large and a small one. It heats up quickly and cooks beautifully. I cooked an 8 lb ham and whole sweet potatoes in it together for Easter and it was the best Easter ham I had ever had. My next slow cooker meal will most likely be southern picnic ribs. I have every confidence that they will turn out famously and the meat will just fall off the bones. I am really enjoying this slow cooker. I prefer the manual slow cookers because of power bumps in the area where we live. If the power goes off, the cooker comes back on when the power does and continues to cook. I love that feature of the manual cookers. I can leave home for hours and not have to worry that when I get back the meal won't be done.

We replaced Crock-Pot that we had for years!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We decided to replace an older model Crock-Pot with a new one which would be larger.
The new one is better than the old and the time it takes to cook (even on Low Setting) was faster than what we had been used to with the old one. We decided to follow a recipe from another person on cooking a ham for Easter. This new recipe was far easier than the old method of putting cloves in the ham and pinning pineapple slices to the ham. What it called for was to place brown sugar in the bottom of the pot along with crushed pineapple and sprinkling crushed cloves on the ham and in the bottom with the other stuff. We were to cook this on low for 5 to 6 hours.
Well the result was far better than we would have imagined. The ham was done sooner and in fact at the 4 hour mark we took temperature and it read done, in fact fairly well done! We stopped the process, took the ham out and put on carving board and wrapped with aluminum foil so that it could rest until we got the mashed potatoes done.
Our ham was the best ever! We can only blame the result on the fact that this Crock-Pot is great!

Stoneware cracked while cooking

My new 8 quart crock pot cracked while my food was cooking, I heard a loud popping kind of noise in my kitchen, went to see what caused the noise but I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. After serving the meal at clean up time while washing the stone wear pot I noticed a large crack along the bottom. Then I go on this website to try to order a replacement and find out the 8 quart replacement isn’t available online, so now I can’t even replace what broke. I still have my first 4 quart crock pot I have had for about 27 years with no issues, then Ali buy a new larger one and it cracks after a few uses.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are a family of 5. 3 very sport active boys (6,10,14) and a BoyMom and BoyDad. So there is no lack of eating in our house. The local grocery store manager always greets us like a high roller at a casino. Except the house never loses in this situation. However, I digress.
We have used Crock-Pots for years. A few times I'd move over to the digital one only to be disappointed and have to go back to my 20 year old standard Knob (The old standby). The boys have gotten older, us as parents got sucked into the volunteering of Wrestling, Football, Baseball, Cross Country, etc. etc. The 6qt wasn't holding out anymore. It will get filled to the brim with some splash over in order to feed our offspring that act like we never feed them.
Enter the 8qt. It was what I expected Yes it does hold more food. It also works good as a warmer for when you need to bring food to events or keep it on standby if it finishes early.
Cons-
1. If you normally cook food and have room in your 6qt. Do not get this. It will cook the food faster as it is designed to cook 6-8qts of food.

2. It would be nice if it at the clamps for the lid. That option isn't available as I cook and travel for my boys sporting events and I volunteer to bring food.
