Cook Temps Way Off

Temps are way off. Cannot cook potatoes or rice. Tried making soup recipes - one with potatoes and one with with rice - that I have made many times before in my old cooker - after 9/8 hours potatoes and brown rice were almost raw while meat was overcooked and thus dry. Tried using it last night just to make mulled wine. After 1 hour on high the top of the crock was hot but the bottom was stone cold. Had to transfer everything to a stock pot and cook on stove to save the party. So disappointed.

i bought this a week ago, and was super excited about the price, My old 1 just died. When i got it home, and took it out of the box, 1 side of the lid is missing tthe latch to hold it on. I use my crockpot for traveling. The bag also has acut in it, that i am pretty sure will continue to rip. Pretty disapointed. Cant seem to buy just the metal latch.

Warm Will Boil Your Food!

Warm is hotter than low, Low boils quickly, and High seems to be as expected. I've used this unit about 10 times and it's starting to have an odor like something is overheating. The lid is good for transporting food and the pot itself is nonstick which is good because Warm will burn your food! Definitely looking for something better.

62 year old guy..tired of fast food so bought a..replacement for a 1990's basic off/low/high model that still worked fine...that just looked rough....but served me well for decades. The ''Crock'' did crack years ago ,but never leaked....but felt time to make actual meals again. This new model.... ,saw reviews both good and bad. Researched and saw the redesign of how it heats...sightly hotter and more evenly....get it,makes sense, so, Bought this model , tomorrow...gonna make my 9nth big meal using it... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is my review. Day 1 Just heated water in it, on both low and high settings.worked fine,no leaks. By the way the quality of the 1990's 'crock ' seemed fine..but the new 'crock' has a WAY superior glazing!
Then tested the timer function on every meal...switched to warm every time. (not sure, but think warm mode shuts off after 4 hours,so won't burn yer house down.)
I figured out a couple of things about negative reviews I read on other sites, had they did a little research...less complaining about burnt food.
#1 You upgraded locations of heating elements so more even heating through out the "'crock''. KUDOS...that worked. Temp is slightly higher over all...even in the ''warm'' setting for food safety. If using WARM SETTING stir this already cooked food from time to time, cause the edges do get hotter.
#2 Seriously, JMHO Buy and try slow cooker/ liner bags! 8 meals made so far, 1 time I forgot the liner, and food slightly burned on the edges of the crock . Clean up afterwards involves remove the bag, rinse crock for 20 seconds with hot water...then wipe with a paper towel. Reynold's wrap liners cost about 1 dollar a bag...totally worth it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So far I have made 2 versions of thick pork chops,2 versions of chicken ,one with stuffing, other with rice, a ravioli / lasagna, combo, pork loin sauerkraut, and a god awful beef stew....total train-wreck ....My fault...bad online recipe...lol But all the others tasted great. The new slow cookers are a tad more efficient,so seems hotter, but if keep food level between 1/2 to3/4 full ,and bare minimum 1 cup of liquid...seems to work fine. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This new model,so far works GREAT. Food cooks more evenly, and the timer function works fine so far. This crock pot. I have already recommended to friends.
{To the CROCKPOT company, If I can make one suggestion. A paper insert in the box that tells new owners that both the low and high settings hit the same temperature, but at different time intervals to reach it and the reasons why. I researched this before i bought mine and get how it works...works great,...
But might cut down on the countless negative reviews seen on many sites where people think the LOW setting means it tops out at a lower temp then the HIGH setting. So calling them defective.} ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So far loving this model.Heats the food more evenly than my older model, The rubber gasket on the lid, made for transporting the meal, seems to reduce evaporation during cooking (no, I never lock the lid down while cooking)...
The ability to to adjust times by 1/2 hour a huge plus. If the electronics hold up over time ,this will be money well spent.
Just one thing...... Do handle the lid with kid gloves. The glass is WAY THINNER than the older models.
Like I said only owned this model 3 + months, but so far impressed with upgrade!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Decent Crockpot, but not a fan of the lid

I got this Crockpot model after the timer display on my ten year old unit went out. It does its job well, but the gripe I have is with the lid.
Water gets under the handle during washing and can't drain out or dry out quickly. My previous Crockpot had slots in the handle that allowed water to drain out and fresh dry air in, but this one does not. I tried removing the screw from the underside of the lid that holds the handle in place, but rather than turn, the metal of the screw began to shave off. I realized that the screw holding the handle in place had been glued into its hole after I finally managed to get the handle off of the lid, but the screw is damaged beyond reuse sadly, so I cannot use the lid at the moment.
I still like the pot and if I find a replacement lid would love to keep using it. However, I hope the next Crockpot I buy (whenever this one gives out) will have a lid handle that allows water to drain out.

I love crock pots generally. The problem I have with this particular model is how hot it cooks. It gets so hot it warped TWO wood cutting boards, and my food is boiling within the first hour of use. Do yourself a favor and stay FAR away!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wish I could give this zero stars. I received this as a replacement for the Safe crock pot that burnt everything no matter what setting you use. I have attempted to use this crock pot twice and am experiencing the same issues. No matter what setting I use, burnt to a crisp is how my food comes out. I cannot afford to continue to trust this brand. I attempted to upload a video but the option would not work using my phone. The video showed that the cooker was on low and the gravy was literally boiling. Even on high, it shouldn't boil.

Hello!
On your slow cooker, both High and Low stabilize at the same temperature 209°F; it is just a matter of how long it takes to reach the simmer point.
The unit can also boil on High and Low. We do recommend that you always fill your slow cooker 1/2 - 3/4 of the way full, including at least one cup of liquid or sauce. You may have to adjust your cook times accordingly, especially if you are using older slow cooker recipes, or adapting regular recipes for slow cooker use. This will prevent the food from drying out and burning.
If you have any more questions or concerns, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9 am -5 pm Eastern Time.
