Marvalous Machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Appears to be very well made. Works as advertised. We are very glad we purchased this along with the top load electric dryer as a set. The only thing I wish was available was a signal when the wash was finished, but this in no way detracts from its marvelous functioning.

Excellent washer

I bought this washer a few weeks ago, and I am extremely happy with it. I had not realized that my old washer was not getting my clothes as clean as they should have been until I bought this washer. When I compared a bath towel I had washed with my old washer to one of the same color washed in this washer, I was amazed at how much cleaner this washer got it.
I also love that it auto-adjusts the temperature, and fills the washer only as full as it needs to to get the clothes clean. It is also extremely quiet. You can barely hear it even if you are in the same room with it.
My only complaint is that if you open the lid when the washer is filling with water, the water shuts off and washer stops filling. This is VERY inconvenient, because fabric softener needs to be diluted when you add it, so this mean I have to take water to the basement with me every time I do laundry. I also like to rinse the cap of my laundry detergent bottle out after I put the detergent in so it doesn't make a mess when I put the cap back on. I feel like whoever designed this washer did not think it through when they made the choice to shut the water off when you open the lid.
My only other compliant is not with the washer itself, but with the Whirlpool delivery people. I bought my washer directly from Whirlpool, and I paid for installation, which should include them doing everything it said to do in the installation guide. When the guy was setting up the washer, I specifically asked him if the installation included him leveling the washer, and pointed out to him I was not going to be able to level it myself. He just said something like in included set up, and when he was finished hooking up all of the hoses, he opened the lid, looked at it and said "It looks pretty level to me" and then just left. The installation instructions specifically say to use a level and level the washer before you use it. I should not have even had to ask him to level it, and he certainly should have done it when I specifically asked him to.

Takes longer to wash a load than the older washers (but I think this comment is the same for any of the 'new' washers).
