Ice maker stopped working

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this fridge less than 2 years ago, changed the water filter every 6 months as recommended. Suddenly a month ago the ice maker stopped making ice. This makes us so mad, this refrigerator was expensive.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased this as a replacement for our old unit. Was impressed by the excellent rating on Consumer Reports. Really appreciate the door on the refrigerator that allows access to items without fully opening the door. Selves have better storage for items compared to other refrigerators we looked at

We've only had the refrigerator for about 2 weeks now, so we could still be in the honeymoon phase, but only time will tell. The fridge is very spacious inside. We didn't expect to go with another side-by-side model since we had inherited our previous unit (a 28-year-old GE Profile) and always thought we would get a French-door model, but when we saw this one at Home Depot on sale for less than $1,000, we had to jump on it. I think our only quibble at this stage is that there is no deli meat drawer, but there are two huge fruits/vegetables drawers. We went ahead and bought a container to put the deli meat into, and now we just put that on one of the shelves inside the fridge. I liked the door-in-door option that this model offers, but my wife wasn't a big fan, so we opted not to get it. We did, however, get the water and ice dispenser on the freezer door. It's a little strange not having a "Drip tray" but it has been working pretty good with our four boys (15, 15, 12, and 8) using it all day long. I haven't seen a lot of water on the door or floor, so I thought that was a big plus. And the lack of a separate ice maker at the top of the freezer (inside) means that we have even more space in the freezer. We'll have to see how if the ice keeps up with demand at our next BBQ. Overall, a really good refrigerator for the price. We're hoping it lasts as long as our previous one did!
