Mount can erase your cards’ data

The mount is very convenient and works great for my phone but unfortunately the magnet has erased my debit and credit card magnetic strip. I made the mistake of sliding my phone in the same pocket as my wallet and now I have to order new cards. Maybe if the ball was the magnet and the mount on the phone was just metal I wouldn’t have run into the issue.

Won't stick

I tried multiple times to stick this to multiple different places in two different cars. I cleaned the surface with alcohol and waited for it to dry. It was warm but not hot out. The product seem like it was going to work great at first. if I try to leave my phone on for more than 20 minutes the mount would fall off of the car. I chose the smoothest surfaces possible. One surface was vertical so I thought maybe I was asking too much. The other was horizontal and the phone still fell over.

I wish the piece on the phone wasn't magnetized.

I wish the piece that attaches in the car was the only magnetized part. I have de-magnetized two debit cards just by having my phone in the same bag as my wallet. I didn't even have them in the same pocket of the bag. It's too much to have to keep them separate all the time. I don't want to ruin a third. If this wasn't an issue, it would have gotten 5 stars because it really is the best car mount!
Pros: Durable, Easy To Set Up

Works great! They need to integrate the design onto a protective hard case like a Griffin or Otterbox. I have had to cut holes in my cases to accomodate the magnet. The nice thing about it, is using it with a hard case, it will lay flat on a table top and you can still attach it to a fridge, or a file cabinet. I switched my magnet to the new iPhone 6Plus and it doesn't hold near as well as it held the 5. The 6plus just weighs a little too much for that magnet. It doesn't stay in place very well in landscape mode. They should have a stronger magnet to use with these "phablets".Another thing you have to watch for is credit cards, room keys, etc. My wife erased her credit card, and I erased a room key while on a trip out of town. (I stuck the room key and the phone in the breast pocket of my shirt at the same time)

I bought this Steelie Car Mount Kit 3 years ago. It's the best phone accessory I've ever bought. After 3 years the magnet is strong as ever and I never had a problem with the adhesive losing it's strength either....neither the metal ball that's on my dash or the magnet that's on the back of my phone case. Yes, I still have the same phone case for my phone. My phone has never fallen off the metal ball and my job takes me off road at times.This product works!

Love it, but beware

I bought this last week and since then the magnet on the phone side of the mount demagnetized a MetroCard (NYC subway/bus). It only passed over the card for a second. Really stinks because this card has a lot remaining in it. I think the car side of the mount should be magnetized instead. Other than this flaw in design, IMHO, it’s a great mount.

Won't stick...

The dash mount has never stuck to any surface in any of the vehicles I've tried....Bought replacement adhesive, still no stick. To ANYTHING. I spent WAY too much money on this thing and haven't got a single second of good use out of it... Waited more than 24 hours after first stick before trying to attach my phone, per the instructions, and it fell right off. Every time. Magnet is impressively strong, but useless if I can't mount the base.
