I have had several Otterbox commuter cases for various iPhone devices. I love the sleek design that protects the phone but allows the phone to slide in/out of my pocket. I hate to admit that I have dropped my phone a few times and yet my phone did not crack. At times the case cracked but Otterbox honored the warranty. I will continue to purchase these cases for new devices in the future.
On occasion the plastic near the headphone jack cracks but Otterbox always honors the warranty.
I will recommend Otterbox forever!

Durable case but does not clean well

I purchased the commuter case for my iPhone about 2 weeks ago. Great protection but the only thing that frustrates me is the white silicone has turned yellow. I have tried everything to clean it but it's remains a light yellow color. Overall I like the case but something needs to be done about the silicone turning yellow.
Pros: Durable
Cons: white silicone turning yellow

I have owned Otterbox products before and been very happy with the quality, this product however is fair at best. I bought 2 one for me and one for my wife, both broke with just general everyday light use and had to be replaced. I have a colleague at work who has the same product and his broke. They are not durable enough and break too easily. Otterbox returns on the other hand are excellent. They replace them very quickly and with no hassle.
Cons: Not durable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

First, I LOVE my Otterbox Commuter. Perfect size(not clunky at all!); protected my iPhone VERY well on a couple of drops onto asphalt. Unfortunately, the Otterbox broke just above the charging plug (not, apparently, as a result of the drops-it showed up months later). INSTANT warranty replacement arrived at super speed. The bad news-without any drops or abuse at all, the replacement broke in the very same place within 2 weeks. Several other people have reported similar failures with the Commuter. Could you just embed a piece of wire there or something to strengthen it? This is just too great a product to have a problem like this!

I really like my case-being a clutz it's necessary! My only complaints are that the white rubber portion of the case is impossible to keep clean or to clean when it does become discolored. Also the little rubber flap that covers/protects the charging port is sometimes difficult to open. Overall the case is great and has done what I purchased it to do!!!

I like this for the lower level of protection than the bigger model and it fits in my pocket better. However, it also fails ever 3-6 months like clock work. The hard plastic on the bottom fails in the same spot. I have been getting a new one each time but it is a hassle. I talked to others who like it but won't buy it because of this issue.
