The plastic used to be more solid. I had one for My 3G and even the images for the vanilla 4 look to have the same build/solid plastic but the 4S case seems like costs were cut on the plastic and rubber. I wouldn't trust dropping this thing like I had with my 3G. I ordered this thing before I even ordered my phone, sort of disappointed. I'll use it for now but am looking for another case.
Cons: Low quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great case! Ugly colors.

This is an awesome case! It feels great and looks great on the phone. My only complaint is that the colors aren't quite the same as they are on the site. I ordered the green case, and when I got it, it was an ugly dirt/puke green. So I am returning it and getting the regular black one. The case felt great on my phone and looked great minus the colors!
Pros: High quality, Durable
Cons: color selection

While I like the new plastic case which wraps around the top and bottom, it doesn't fit as flawlessly as the "4". Also, and this is my biggest gripe, the new camera is not as well protected as the past model. This has a HUGE hole for dust, grime, table corners, fingers, to get in and hit the lens of the camera.
Pros: High quality, Durable
Cons: camera not protected, doesn't fit as flawless

Protection is amazing!

I have a 4 year old and my phone is still in one piece. Anyone with children can understand how awesome this product must be! It's been dropped, thrown, and dropped some more. It has really stood up to all we put it through. I have the blue case with white silicone and my only complaint is the white silicone gets dingy and dirty really fast, like within days of purchasing. I would LOVE for Otterbox to offer the option to only purchase a silicone replacement, but only for aesthetics not functionality because it still works great. If you are one that would worry about the dingy white then just get a different color :-)

Cons: white silicone gets dirty fast

This particular series (commuter) was not the right series for me. I think this series does not work so well for someone who uses a dock often. As the case has to be removed frequently from its case in order for it to fit on the dock. This causes a little extra wear and tear and if you pull it off just right it snaps the plastic fairly easy. The cover itself is really nice. I had the lavendar and white, but couldn't handle how the white FREQUENTLY needed cleaning, I am a lil crazy about germs and about something in my possession looking dirty...
Any way. Otter Box has fabulous customer service. They sent me a new otter box in a complete different color due to the silicone breaking (the flap where the charger goes plus the plastic part broke)I just happened to ask them if I can get it in a different color, due to the fact that the white silicone part was difficult to maintain clean, and they said, " um I guess I can make that a warranty issue, sure." I was pretty surprised. They sent me a new cover within a few days. Sadly that cover is now broken. :( HOWEVER, again with their fabulous customer service, they offered to send me a new cover of a different series, within the same price range. Which I think is very fair. (I was willing to pay the difference for a more expensive series, but they did not have that option available) I accepted the offer of a new otter box of another series, but of the same value, and I am now awaiting my new Otter Box, Reflex series!! :)

Had heard rave reviews about the otter box so requested one for Mother's Day, it is now July and the corner of mine is broke off due to my 1 yr old grandson dropping.
Pros: cute colors
Cons: Not durable

I am going on my 4th case at this point because it keeps cracking in the exact same spot (the thin part between the home button and the dock connector).
Although it has broken 3 times, I am extremely satisfied with the otterbox warranty, they really stand by their product. Every time it has broken, they have sent me a new one. I just wish I could exchange it for a different case.
