Good protection, Poor design

I bought this case when i bought my iPhone 4S over a year ago, and i have had it replaced by Otterbox 4 times. It has cracked in the exact same spot (below the home button) every time. I am glad that otterbox will replace the case for free, but frustrated that they are doing nothing to fix the problem of a poorly designed case. I would not reccomend this case to anyone unless you want to file warranty claims every 3 months or so.
Pros: good protection, slim profile
Cons: brittle plastic, poor design
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good at First but Wears Down

I've had my Otterbox Commuter for 6 months now. It's the Viola color, and I honestly really, really love the purple with the white. Unlike some other reviews, I've never had a problem with the white silicone. It's pretty much still completely white with no marks on it. Maybe if I compared it to a brand new one, I might notice a difference, but overall, it looks good!
The biggest problem I had with it is that after only having it for 1 month, the silicone started to stretch out, which decreases the protection. It's really annoying, especially because the parts that protect the charging and headphone jack are very loose and don't stay in all the way. Otterbox should offer the silicone piece separately to aid with this problem.
Also, this is really hard to put on! It's very tricky to get on correctly.
Now, a crack has appeared on the top portion. I probably won't be getting another Commuter case. Maybe another Otterbox though.
Pros: Durable

Could have been better

I had a commuter case before but when the silicone started ripping, I requested a warrantied replacement, which I was given. But they no longer made my favorite color and I had to get a different one which upset me a little. Then after a day of using my new case the outer finish on the silicone started peeling and after two weeks my lock button stopped working because the silicone was too rigid and required too much force to press the button. so after getting a new phone i went back to my old case until it croaked then cut the lock button protector off my newer case to save my new phone. So its not very durable, the quality of the silicone is pretty poor, and because of what it did to my other phone i would not recommend it even though i would die with out my otterbox.
Pros: cool colors, reasonable price, good fit, protective
Cons: Not durable, newer parts are not compatible with older ones, stiff silicone, it broke my phone!!!!!

Worst OtterBox product I've ever seen

I replaced an old 'Defender' with the 'Commuter' series, hoping that the smaller, sleeker cover would work as well as the old one - no dice. This cover has a clear piece of plastic that you put on the face of the phone. It has bubbled since I installed it, reinstalled it, and tried again. The sides of the rubber do not hold it in place and they continue to slip off the sides. And to top it off, the plastic is scratched up really bad after only a month of use.
If I could get my money back, I would in a heartbeat.
Bad job, OtterBox - what happened to your quality?
Cons: Low quality, Not durable, scratches, side cover slips off

Pink otter box commuter series

I purchased this case for my teenage daughters iPhone 4S within one week the white rubber part of the case turned to a dingy grey. I wish the case stayed clean because it is a good case and protects the phone.

RUN OVER BY A CAR AND STILL WORKS

My phone was literally run over by a minivan and the only thing that's wrong with it is some tire prints that needed to be wiped off the screen I've never written a review before but this was so amazing I had to share it. I'm SO glad I bought this, it's worth every penny.
Pros: High quality, Durable

Difficult to fit

I have purchased two of these so far and both times I've had a lot of difficulty getting the hard plastic case to fit correctly. The first one I had took about 20 min of bending the plastic, trying to fit it right, and retrying before it fit on correctly. This time is no different. It is a good case but it's incredibly frustrating trying to get it on the phone right out of the box.
I would recommend this to a friend!

SAD :(

This has been great! I've dropped my phone a good amount. Once from the top of my dorm bed where it hit my desk, chair, and floor, and was fine. However, when I had it on my lap tonight and it fell less than two feet, the entire back side of my iPhone 4S cracked. I flip it over to the part where you can see the apple a fair amount because I clean off my fingerprints, and was VERY SAD to see the back side of my phone entirely cracked!!!!
Pros: fine most of the time
Cons: Not durable, didn't work with short fall, not consistent, broke phone with routine fall- <2feet fall
