It just wasn't meant to be, it was a year ago when I had bought my first Iphone in early May, i loved my iphone so i wanted to get an otterbox because i knew that they protected my friends blackberry very well. So i picked up the commuter series straight from the get go i was mad, the see through plastic screen cover had a run in it that looked like a backwards upsidedown ? so i had to buy a next cover but whatever that happens right..? and about 2 months after having the case and phone, which were inseperable by the way, i noticed my lock button had start to become harder to use, then it stopped working all together. Apple reps said my otterbox was constantly pushing on the lock and had killed the button so i needed a new iphone so both the case and iphone were ruined. As soon i got my new iphone with no new warrenty (because apple doesnt extend warrenties when a phone breaks but rather pretends like nothing happened as the customer walks away with a new iphone) I made sure to get a new otterbox because maybe mine was just defective so i got this 4/4s case again but it wasnt the same as the last because the 4s was introduced and so were the newer cases and maybe this time was different...NOPE. Today at work i go to put my phone into my pants pocket and it hit the ground from about hip level and thats about 3 feet as i am 5.9 with short legs. I noticed the bottom part of the outer case was cracked off by the speakers and as i pull my case off of my phone i notice silver dust on the back of the case, i turned my phone around to see a nice design of cracks running along the upper back half of my phone...perfect. I would be really happy if Otterbox would contact me and offer an apology to fix my phone or give anyone who buys their product a guarentee or warning on the box. The sad thing is that the inner case redistributes the shock pressure to reduce harm in the contact zone, meaning no where is safe while wearing this on an iphone! Two different iphone 4 commuter cases broken and the products took my iphones with it, i will be contacting otterbox about rectifying this, i will make sure to go out of my way to put down this product for failing me twice and costing so much for no guarentee that it will work.
Pros: makes it look like a brick, remembering when i had money to waste
Cons: wasting money on an overcharged plastic, not shock proof, silicon/polycarbonate case diverts pressure, cannot withstand a short fall

Great Case!

I have always gotten otterbox cases for my Iphone, and they have always served me well! However, the Commuter case for my new iphone 4s is leaps and bounds ahead of the Iphone 3GS commuter case I had sported for the last 2 years. The case is durable, elegant, and incredibly easy to assemble (as in it took me less than 30 seconds to get it from the box onto my Iphone. I'm usually pretty rough on my phones, and sadly I have already dropped mine once; this thing kept it in pristine condition! I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. I would also check out the Reflex series case for those who would like to use their Iphone in a "docking" style stereo, as this is the one drawback I have found to this case. Otterbox, if you have a happen to have one, feel free to send it down! If not, I guess I'll have to suffer through this amazing case I already have...
Pros: High quality, Durable, super easy to assemble, looks great!, the addition of the separate volume control button

I don't have the one for the 4s..but I looove the one for the 4. people complain about the white silicon getting dirty and I always wondered why mine never did and I saw other peoples that did. I guess the rubber is different on the 4s commuter. Anyway I have a defender too so I don't use this case on a daily basis but I do when I still want protection with a slimmer look. Nothing has broken yet, I know how to put on the case perfectly, all jacks covered perfectly.
just get the iphone 4 version! it will work on the 4s!
Pros: High quality, Durable
Cons: screen protector is meh but most are.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've only had my defender case for a a few weeks and the white silicone is already stretching out and looks terrible because it is white and it looks super dirty. I had the defender series white Otterbox before for over a year and it never did this. Very disappointed.
Cons: Low quality, Not durable

Ive broken 2 in less than a year, they a brittle and the under neath soft part always gets messed up and stuck. Phones okay still.
Pros: Durable
Cons: Low quality, breaks

I love this case. I bought it for my iPhone 4s. It has great protection and feels great. It also isn't too big. It's the perfect combination of protection and style and sleekness.

Otter Box has lost its quality

I had an OtterBox for a year and it was great! Finally broke slightly due to my dropping it. I got one of the new ones and I knew it felt cheap right when I got it compared to what they use to make. i dropped it 3 times which resulted in 2 breaks. not abnormal drops just 2 feet off the ground. It should hold up to what i put it through but didn't. I have only had the second case for a month so it is extremely frustrating.
Pros: looks
Cons: Low quality, Not durable

Almost Perfect

The design of this case is awesome, it provides great protection while keeping a low profile and not adding much bulk to your phone. I feel confident throwing my phone in my bag with all my other things now.
The only problems I have is the quality of the silicone piece.
At the top of my phone, it does not fit the phone as snug as the bottom and so I can move the case back and forth. (I saw an online video review and they reported the same thing)
The second issue is the flap at the bottom where you connect the charger. For me it does not stay closed all the way and sticks out (I've tried refitting the thing many times and it just seems to be the way the silicon is molded)
For me it's the perfect case for my needs, just let down by some of the manufacturing quality.
Pros: Durable, low profile
Cons: Low quality
